AFAIK, students for these programmes are selected by the school. Not all schools are equipped / teachers are trained to run these programmes.
Anyone knows if prog like e2k, Wits & Words, IvP, CWP etc are selected by school or by GEP branch from the GEP screening and selection tests?
Read abt HAP from old posts (2011). -
Thanks floppy for sharing.

For CWP, after nomination by school teachers, final selection is done by GEP department in MOE.

DS’ school told us that GEB will send them 3 lists of names: those students from their school who scored “well” in (a) Round 1 English, (b) Round 1 Math (c) both.
School will use this list to determine who is offered the relevant programs.
If any remaining places then school will use overall grades to select.
What I can’t understand is why Wits and Words debating program selection is not based on how well the child can speak. Using English written exam grades to select is a bit off. -

Different schools have different ways to select. Last time DD's school, Wits n Words opened to all members of their oratorical club.6thisnthat9\" post_id=\"1961446\" time=\"1580471669\" user_id=\"145858:Selected by the school.

Thanks Zac's mum for sharing. I have my suspicion that could be related to GEP round 2 as I heard round 1 is no different from school exam. I was wondering how child got selected when her sch results are not outstanding. ok but not outstanding, some prog, kids with higher scores not selected. not all top students are in all the prog. Dc never get selected for math prog, result over 90 but not keen in maths, other kids score higher.
Based on the kids got selected for diff prog, some top kids in class or level, not in them. I know there is kid who reject e2k sci offer because of tuition. Top kid, his mum has 4 kids, so must know something.
Wits & Words could be based on school oral exam too. Dc could have scored full marks in oral, only a guess as sch doesnt disclose oral and compo separately. Our sch has no oratorical club. Schs with oratorical club, are kids selected to join? or it is open to all?
e2k sci shld be based on sch sci exam.
How abt IvP? cannot be based on english or maths results. GEP test do not include sci. Is this prog realistic? I read abt it at MOE website but for P5, I dont know. Not all top kids are in. Any parents can share?
So far I gathered from dc, one or two top scorers are not in such prog, why? too time consuming?
Trying to find out more so that I know how to be selective. dc has full day week for whole week with such progs and still not enough, child just want to try everything, dont know own passion in which area.zac's mum\" post_id=\"1961462\" time=\"1580485073\" user_id=\"53606:[quote=\"zac's mum\" post_id=1961462 time=1580485073 user_id=53606]

What programmes are you choosing from? -
Hi 6thisandthat9, if your child is selected and is keen, just let them go and try it. I recall u mentioned before that they are active and need lots of activity/stimulation after school to engage their brain? Not sure was it you or cutepandabear.
My child not selected for anything. Want to go also cannot go.
