Orange doesn't mean need to hoard food, right?
For me, it is impact on work but life continues.

Yes, it doesn’t mean need to stock up food. So it implies either:

1). We lost confidence in our Govt. Like how many of us couldn’t get hold of even one box masks. OR

2). Stock up on food as many might think it would better to stay at home over the weekend and over the next two weeks, cook at home to avoid going out where possible.

Supply chain disruption is quite real. Singapore depends a lot on imports. What if infected cases here keep rising? Then SG might become 黑区. If China stops sending us vegetables, Malaysia stops their trucks from entering SG till the situation is clear, then we may face short term storage of goods.

Anyway, my post is not to encourage panic buying. Cos end of the day, rice grow bugs really fast and eating too much processed food kills you faster than being infected by the virus

btw, it was reported in Thailand that they faced drought, rice supply bad ....

if SG were to turn into Red zone, besides food, wondering what else will fly off the shelve

Yup. I got early heads up at 2pm but did nothing coz I know community spread numbers not rampant, I do not need to run amok. Most of the cases were contact fr PRC tourists, in turn spread to family members. Hope they’re able to trace source of VJC cher’s virus. Might not I figure.

Just need to be aware move quickly for my errands. Once I get home complete clean up before hitting sofa. Extra careful time.

Just in relation to panic, hope we calm our minds before others catch our weakness moments for scams.

            (1) There were many FB accounts w/o double strong password, being hacked yday. Once the scammers took over those acoounts, they started asking frds for password on pretexts of all kinds of reasons. Just beware do not give yr personal info.

            (2) Be careful of scam - scammers call and claim they’re doing contact tracing, then get all your info from there.
How to differentiate real caller from bluff one:
Don’t give any info. Instead ask for their name and phone number to call back. Call the MOH hotline to verify if the number the caller gave to you is true. Wait for MOH to call you back if it’s true contact tracing, ie dont call back the one who called you.
            MOH General Hotline (65) 6325 9220

I think the real ones would have volunteered to give you some information on why they called you. So on the basis of that information, questions probably can be answered. Key is not to volunteer to give any information to caller which they can use back to trick you.

My employer has an Aussie parent company. Some weeks ago, when news of Coronavirus broke, the Aussie HR already emailed us and asked us to feel free to take advantage of their work-from-home policy. They have long established all the necessary remote server login access for all their staff. So that no sick staff need to report physically to office and spread viruses to anyone else. And so that staff with sick kids/parents can still access work from home - some staff access from the beachside after surfing, and that’s fine by them too.

Singaporean offices still have a long way to go in welcoming & trusting their telecommuting staff. In this kind of tech-savvy, cloud computing age, we should accelerate the implementation.

Only certain industries like service and sales can’t telecommute unfortunately.
