is good to get this started, pkpl, can see your kindness and big heart.
Just a few thoughts...it’s always easy to comment that, “...on hindsight, certain measures should happen earlier etc.” Instead of being a naysayer, there are pockets of opportunities for us to show practical kindness to those around us.
If we happened to get much more essentials last weekend than what we would need, we could share with those whom we know who haven’t had the chance or quick enough to make any purchase, and their supplies could be running low. Even if it’s a hand wave to the health staff in uniform when we see them in public places could be a morale booster to them.
It’s how we respond constructively or otherwise in times like this that define who we really are. Daily statistics are easily accessible with social media. Perhaps we could use this forum to share on how Singaporeans have contributed and helped others sensibly during this time? 😉
I’m voicing my view because we need to channel our energy positively to brace this crisis together. To each his own. 😃
Thank you, for raising this up, pkpl
i am thinking
those poor folks like old people and poor family children, living in one room rented hdb flat, no $ to buy face mask to protect them from virus, besides them getting from RC / CC to get the 4 face mask per household, not enough, because 4 pieces very soon will be used up, maybe we can buy, then distribute to them staying in one room flat ? -

Absolutely agree with pkpl. Thank u chenlaoshi for sharing positive & constructive actions on avenues to donations.

When we see those in service not having a mask, the elderly who hv to subj in long Qs can help out. Instead of saying “good bye” say take care stay healthy with good hand wash. Thank our taxi, Grab or bus drivers (incl those free feeder/shuttle bus drivers) for they’ve dedicated their time to make a living amongst us. They cld hv responded like no boss they me to stay home, “since I drive my own cab, I shld do like so many parents asked for sch to close, they keep their children safely at home I stay home to be safe”. Encourage them to protect themselves with masks, tho for those of us folks not ill do not wear it.
There’re 2 young fellows mobilizing ppl to donate only unused masks and sanitisers, packed in zip lock bags for hygiene purposes, to those in need (elderly & poor grps). That is if u hv spares to offer fr the bottom of yr heart. These are constructive actions rather than “what if’s”, “why nots”, who did wrong, who didn’t do enuf or timely manner. We’re all in this together. Let’s help each other.
We’ve many amongst us alr doing it & many didn’t even voiced they JUST DO IT.
Take care SG! -
No point debating whether Air Show should go on or not because it’s already on. Water under the bridge.
Just take it that it is a Flu++. Fatality rate is high only in Hubei but likely to be less than 1% in SG. Even if it’s not 2019-nCoV, one can also die from pneumonia arising from a seasonal flu. Take extra precautions on personal hygiene.
I suppose the confusing part on why some think Air Show should be called off is because we just raised DORSCON level to Orange!!
Well, my kids’ CCAs still carry on, Air Show carry on, we still see crowds in malls shopping/food courts, life is as usual, not much difference whether it’s DORSCON Yellow or Orange, isn’t it?
Maybe we take it too lightly? So even when we are in DORSCON Red, probably we still have people walking/shopping all over SG? -
nCov patients in Singapore that are in critical condition keeps rising. From 1, to 2, yesterday was 6 and today is 7. I hope everybody can get well again.

There's one cluster in a Church.
Haven't limited large religious gathering yet. It's not as though there had been any known cluster related to religious service yet, right?Parent\" post_id=\"1963041\" time=\"1581393016\" user_id=\"2348:
People are not asking everything to shut down.
But events like the air show which will attract large crowds and many foreigners to come in should be cancelled or postponed for the time being.
With ORANGE DORSCON, it already limits large gatherings, such as in all our schools.
Hence, no reason why the govt should allow the air show to carry on.
As far as my religious organisation is concerned, large gatherings have been cancelled for the time being. -

On the contrary, my DD's JC has scaled down all its orientation activities. In fact many has been cancelled. Although some activities have carried on, they are in small groups and the activities are spaced apart.

In NUS and other tertiary institutions, they have also limited group size to 50. All these precautions are imposed to limit the potential transmission.
Although the fatality rate of the virus is below SARS (in % terms), it is many times more infectious. Just look at China, the number of deaths already surpassed SARS and in a much shorter time. Moreover, doctors are still coming to terms with the virus and how best to tackle it. One thing that has been observed from the virus is that patients can turn critical after 2 weeks despite showing mild symptoms initially. Given the high number of China people suffering from the virus, the potential number of deaths is really worrying.
Also, as has been pointed out, the number of critical cases in Singapore has risen from 2 to 7 now.
When DORSCON has been upgraded to ORANGE, the govt realised how fast the virus could spread, and that was after finding people infected from unknown sources.
Yes. Life goes on, but that doesn't mean we have to be reckless. Whatever precautions that need to be taken to prevent community spread should be taken. -
Can't help but notice the Bangladeshi worker was clinic-hopping until he was confirmed positive. Who were those GPs he saw?
I notice in some non-Wuhanese direct import cases, patients had to clinic-hop too.
Case 29 (Seletar, Topiary condo) - 29/1, 30/1
Case 31 (Tampines) - 23/1, 28/1
Case 32 (VJC) - 2/2 (so she taught in school from 29 - 31 Jan?)
Case 34 (YTH staff) - 27/1, 1/2
Case 37 (Jurong East PHV driver) - 1/2, 3/2
Case 39 (Hyatt, Jurong West) - 3/2, 5/2
Case 41 (Pat's SH, PLMChurch) - 1/2, 5/2, 6/2
Case 42 (Bangladeshi) - 3/2, 5/2, 7/2
Case 43 (Fernvale, RWS staff) - 30/1, 5/2, 6/2
Were our Singapore pte GPs astute enough to spot the symptoms and convey them to NCID straight away? These cases seem quite different from the earlier ones which were assessed by GPs in Raffles Medical, Parkway Shenton and some larger health groups located in shopping malls and CBD office buildings. Remember earlier there were many heartland malls that had to be disinfected?
I'm concerned that some inexperienced GPs 没把好关, allowing these suspected cases to 趴趴走 for so many days. Just hope it's not because they didn't want to shutter for 14 days. I'd seen some GPs in HDB flats (those that have been in business for 30+ years) for minor probs, but they didn't seem very knowledgeable and even recommended another GP in another nearby avenue for a 2nd opinion. LOL!

The early symptoms are non-specific (including feeling tired, headache), hence making it much harder for a GP to make a call on whether to send for further investigations.

Our authorities were a tad slower to hold a presser (first was 27 Jan), whereas Taiwan, Japan and HK had already held theirs prior to 小年夜. Being a germaphobe, I emailed a handful of private enrichment centres and CL tuition centres (not under MOE purview) from 小年夜 to 初一 to request them to create an online travel declaration form so their PRC teachers/students must declare where they had visited.
