Hi,
This question is to those whose children were successful in EAE for Poly.
What happens during the results? Will their EAE be confirmed during the results once they meet the MER and <26 points? I know they will not be able to take part in the JAE.
Does the fact that they don’t get the JAE form means their EAE is confirmed?
I have tried looking this up online, but don’t really see what the process will be. I heard the polys will get in touch sometime in end Feb/early March, but what happens between the 13th (when results will be declared) and when the polys get in touch?
If anyone who has been through the process can help out here, it will be highly appreciated!
Thanks! -

The answer to your question is yes. Once you meet the admission criteria, you are deemed to have accepted the offer, unless you have withdrawn prior. As such, you won’t receive the JAE form as you will not be eligible to take part in JAE.

In between results and enrollment, you go on holiday, work jobs, eat / sleep / be merry

Thanks floppy! I have seen the FAQ, but it's not very clear on the process post O level results.

My child have applied for DAE in all the Poly but didn’t expect Temasek Polytechnic will respond so fast. Was wondering if anyone have any advise is it possible to delay in accepting the offer from Temasek Poly while waiting for other Poly to come back with results?

There should be a date given for when a reply is expected? If it is really too soon, just call and ask for an extension? They should understand. Alternatively, call the preferred options and ask for an early reply?

It is so easy to find tuition for Primary, Secondary and even JC. When it comes to Polytechnic, there isn't much information on this. This coming year my child is heading Polytechnic and was wondering is there any tuition help she can go to if she needs help to improve her studies. Wonder anyone out there can provide more information to approach this? Appreciate any advise given. :thankyou:

I believe that this is harder to find for 2 reasons - the first is that as "nearly-adults", students are expected to learn on their own, and seek help from friends and lecturers if they need to, rather than have regular tuition. The other reason is that every poly course is different, so it would be impossible to have tuition classes. If you really want tuition for your child, you will probably need to find a tutor by word of mouth, or ask an agency to specially find one if they have the contacts. The tuition would probably have to be one-to-one unless your child can find a classmate or 2 to share.

I heard that even university students also go for tuition. :yikes:

Is it true? :scratchhead: -

I have heard the rumour, but no direct info if this is actually true. And it could be that a student needed help for a particular subject/topic, and was willing to pay for help, not that he engaged a tutor to guide him through the entire course. Even if true, it must be very rare - I know a good no. of university students, and no-one has ever mentioned someone who has private tuition.

The following article may be useful for you.

Tuition agencies contacted say they have been receiving more inquiries from tertiary students who want a tutor to help them do better in polytechnic or university.
Most of the demand is for tuition in mathematics, statistics, engineering and accounting.
