All classes at the National University of Singapore's (NUS) School of Design and Environment (SDE) will be conducted online from today, after one of its professors became ill with the new coronavirus.
NUS president Tan Eng Chye said last night that as an additional precaution, in-person classes, tests, meetings or interactions between SDE students and staff, as well as small-group studio sessions, will be suspended until next Friday. The university's recess week then kicks in from Feb 22 to March 1.

Try Daiso alcohol wet wipes. There are Dettol, Zappy brands too in toiletries shops in the heartlands/mature estates.
yeah read that soap and water the best..I thought worst case diy buy more than 60% alcohol. need add aloevera else harsh to skin.
I heard some pp went to those public hand sanitiser dispensers (some free ones in HDB lifts) to pump small amts into their own bottles! :faint:
I heard you can use mouth wash too, but must be those without 'sweet flavour'.
Masks - u can pre-order with distributors, or ask some service sector towkays to spare u some. Since no customers are willing to patronise restaurants and shops these days, their staff don't need that many masks anymore. They should release extra masks to the public.
I bought some from Japan last time, but they are the polyurethane type (Pitta brand) which are not suitable. Only good for hiding from paparazzi.

Daiso and Japan Home types are mainly the 1- or 2-ply masks designed for blocking out pollen grains or household dust particles. Japan usually sell these types during the Sakura season in Spring. You'll see ''花粉'' words on the packet.
I've SKP masks but they are only good for my helper to do household chores and gardening. -

I didn't know Daiso's one not suitable. Once I went to Daiso after reading news that they have masks. As usual, always late. I have some stocks tho most given to ah lao. Just that need to be very stingy in using it. Yesterday read from news at asiaone, a Taiwanese doctor says can use our normal cloth mask with insert of dried off wet tissues/even toilet paper. So told my family members to diy masks. I managed to get my order for sanitizers. Heng arh.

Landlords may be penalised for evicting tenants on quarantine or leave of absence
SINGAPORE: Landlords may be penalised for evicting tenants who are on home quarantine orders or leave of absence (LOA) during the coronavirus situation, said the Government on Monday (Feb 3).
"Landlords found to have irresponsibly evicted their residents may face restrictions and even be barred from renting out their flats to foreign work pass holders in future," said a joint press release by the National Development, Education, and Manpower ministries.
"The Government has received feedback of landlords evicting tenants who are placed on LOA or home quarantine orders, and based on their nationality," the press release added.
"Guidelines are available for landlords to adopt should they have a tenant who is on home quarantine orders or LOA. There is no need for landlords to evict persons who are serving their home quarantine orders or LOA."
Last Friday, Communications and Information Minister S Iswaran said there have been "troubling or disturbing" stories of landlords who are evicting people because they are either on home quarantine or an LOA.
"We are all in this together. Those on quarantine or leave of absence are subject to this for the sake of the wider community so that the rest of us do not run the risk of infection," he had said.
"SIMPLY PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES"
A 14-day leave of absence has been implemented since Friday by the Ministry of Health for Singapore residents and long-term pass holders who had travelled to mainland China within the last 14 days.
Nearly 1,000 students and staff members were on leave of absence after returning from mainland China, the Education Ministry said on Friday.
On Monday, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that were no new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Singapore. As of noon on Monday, 262 suspect cases have tested negative for the virus, while test results for another 32 cases are pending.
MOH also identified 256 close contacts of the 18 cases and of the 187 who are still in Singapore, 186 are being quarantined or isolated. Efforts are ongoing to contact the remaining close contact.
The ministries said in the press release on Monday that people on home quarantine or LOA "are well, and that these are simply precautionary measures to protect Singaporeans from the spread" of the novel coronavirus.
"Those who are unwell with fever or respiratory symptoms will be sent to a hospital for assessment and isolated if they are a suspect case," added the ministries.
National Development Minister Lawrence Wong, who co-chairs a ministerial taskforce to deal with the novel coronavirus situation, told Parliament on Monday he had heard feedback of landlords "stigmatising tenants based on their nationality", and evicting Chinese nationals who are on an LOA.
"I can appreciate that Singaporeans are very concerned about the wellbeing of themselves and their family members," he said.
"But if landlords start turning tenants away, then our overall containment efforts will be much harder and we end up endangering ourselves and others.
"The outcome will be completely counterproductive. We should not condone such irresponsible actions that will end up putting Singapore and Singaporeans at greater risk." -

if u are a landlord renting out your own HDB unit or your private condo unit to China people,
as a landlord, u cannot evict them, cannot turn them away, once they return from China back to Sg, go on LOA

I suspect it depends on individual, like what they allow MOH for press release. Noticed some are very vague and some very detailed, like where they have been, where they are working/living....etc
Perhaps the pastor deemed it's his responsibility to alert others who he had been in close contact recently but could not remember.

I think before he owned up last night, I already read on ST online (13Feb, 5pm) details like Pastor, aged xx, stays at xxxx. Maybe he knows can’t hide anymore after this.
I wonder why for some patients they announce detailed info like #48 stays at Bukit Batok street 25, #49 stays Toh Guan Road, but did not mention some others like #50 stays where.
