You can have a look at the 2 schools’ website to get a glimpse into the school culture. You may think it doesn’t matter but the child will be experiencing it 5 days a week. Academics, quality of learning, all these are from MOE and very similar but the delivery & communication of values are in different context.

Feel free to browse around the other pages of the websites.

I would choose MS for single sex and affiliation. And balloting risk is lower as only last year ballot -<1km, historically balloting 1-2km

It is a little-known fact that Mee Toh School is affiliated to Manjusri Secondary:

            https://www.thewackyduo.com/2019/10/complete-list-of-psle-affiliated.html?m=1

It is unclear (as yet) how many affiliation points discount will be given under the AL system. MOE is supposed to provide indicative cut-off points (including for affiliated students) around May this year. So keep an eye out.

But you dont need affiliation to get into Manjusri because the COP for affiliation is equal or higher than non affiliation COP (depending on stream). More like no one wants to go there. Not that it is “little known”.

I would pick MS over MT too. I dont like schools with black shoes. 😂

MS is SAP, MT is not? I think?

A bit harsh to say that “no one wants to go there”. Have a look at the aggregate range of the students who choose Manjusri. The highest end of the range was 221 (affiliate) and 235 (non-affiliate). Why did they choose Manjusri? Maybe religious reason?

                  https://postimg.cc/Bjt9jjSR
Most likely convenience. Maybe the students just stayed across the school or something.

Anyway, between the two - MS or MT, I’ll pick the most convenient, assuming religious belief is not a concern. However, if child is the only son, MS probably edge it.

                    https://postimg.cc/Bjt9jjSR
😄 That was figurative speech. No one didnt mean not a single person, surely some of them would have put it in their list, maybe 4th choice or whatever. Looking at the median score of 205, I wont think there are that many of them with 230 and above. It is cute to think people go to Manjursi because of religious reasons. Well yes, maybe that one single 235 might have. You could be right. Or he may stay opp the school or his father was from there and he wants to continue the family tradition. But in any case, the point is, that you dont need affiliation to go to Manjursi if that is your dream school.

To side track, there are many with less than 230 with nowhere else to go, like the 221 you picked up, that’s why they are there. But again, figurative speech, I dont mean nowhere, like really nowhere. My friend’s son is there, he had nowhere else to go, 2nd choice. The son’s friends from the pri sch in the nearby area are also there, they also had nowhere else to go. Def not their dream school and not religion.

Thanks for the responses. I’m thinking MS as well… maybe because it is a more well known school and more well know afflicted secondary school. I’ll take a closer look at their homepages. Thanks.
