Aiyo, you expect us to know how to read Japanese.
Anyway, it's reported here that 2 cruise passengers (a male and a female, both 80yo) had died and 3 other Japanese had died. Different from what has just been reported by CNA. :scratchhead:

Actually, at first I thought it's common sense too.
Then hor...after finding out that CCS had to explain the rationale of \"rationing\" to business leaders in such detail, I started to accept that it doesn't come naturally to most people.

The bzmen/leaders are not stupid, just like all Sporeans aren’t. But when in crisis, we all ran to protect our own brood (family, properties, bz viability...) that we don’t look at the big picture & where the guardposts shld be (not homefront alone but all gantry posts) and we don’t see all the connections but only those tt were nearsight, as the national/Int’l/WHO leaders need to check for key source & sub-sources of infections to stop gap & who will be there to help segregate the deadly viruses if we don’t preserve our key & knowledgeable medical frontliners. Other frontliners are just impt, tho they may not be leaders (our taxi drivers, cleaners, security personnel, ...

The rest of us just need to listen carefully where these resources need to be prioritized. I didn’t realized how short we can be of masks or thermometers. Why then the leaders hv to caution our wise use, until I travel out & realized shortages are everywhere & most needy in China & Wuhan. I began to learn how to keep myself reasonably safe in view of resource shortages by being responsible to myself, my family & my community. Guess we’re abit like the patriarch holding limited resources & allocate accordingly & yes, wld probably ‘favor’ the more able in hope that he can bring the brood to a higher level when other members hv perceived inabilities. S’times, Human behaviour is such the middle child syndrome & the ones not getting the ‘perceived most’ will kick up fuss, oppositional and throw tandrum. I see it even in my own elderly. Some just don’t see the big picture no matter how much you do for their best interests.

S’times it’s so discouraging, I’ve to let the tandrum continue & walk off till somehow they realized you were always caring & hv their interests at heart. But walking off is painful for me, coz I want to be there for my elderly at their every needs. I wonder if our leaders feel discouraged after explaining exhaustively, after spending late nights reading & u’stand’g this new monster of virus hitting the world, meeting long hours to direct resources, etc. I wonder where donthey find the strength & motivation to keep going till stroke strikes their health, white hair or no hair starts showing? Is it worth it? It can’t be done without a calling to serve more than 100s, 1000s, millions of differing voices & needs.

I learn not to point fingers. I learn to be part of the community & ppl are part of my skin for w/o them, I’ll be I an island by myself. I learn to do what I can even if a kind word to a stranger Grab driver, who isn’t a stranger coz he’s my kind driver ferrying me or family to our destination. We all in this together. So, I hope to be a positive part of community. No an empty sounding gong. Hope :xedfingers:

          :goodpost:
My sentiments exactly. We are fighting a war against a virus, not political parties, not race, not religion, not other humans.
In this case, as it affects many countries at the national level, the government has no choice but to be involved. In my earlier post, I did question what happened to the Intelligence on the ground that the looting on our masks and sanitizers by foreigners was not detected and stopped. Our G did response a little slow initially but I should say that subsequently everything is handled effectively and efficiently. The run on the supermarkets was reined in beautifully. Hong Kongers are objective when looking at how our G operates and they are full of praises while lamenting what a useless G they have. The same applies to us looking at how their G mishandled the situation and Carrie Lam who had adamantly refused to close all borders and yet recently remarked that it is a too late to do so now. Personally, I am thankful that I am in Singapore instead of Hong Kong.
It is easy to fold our arms like one of the opp parties and criticize the G instead of helping in any way. I would like to ask him what he will do if he is the minister in charge of those limited amount of masks bearing in mind that supplies have literally dried up? Would he has done a better job or would he had given away all the masks in our national stockpile by now? Correct me if I am wrong, I don't see opposition parties doing anything to help the people. All I see, for example, are kind souls giving out free masks on their own. CCS is right to save those masks for a more needy period which hopefully will not materialize. Imagine if the infection goes out of control and Singapore becomes a second Wuhan and we have already used up all the masks before then. Personally I have some N95 masks left from the haze and 4 surgical masks from the G. Calculating the chance of getting infected now is as low as striking TOTO first prize, I am guarding them fiercely at the moment. Do I need the G to tell me this?
Well, as the saying goes, \"common sense is not so common\". I laughed my guts out when I saw the photos of the Aunty Indomie with her war trophy and laughed even harder when I knew that they stock up the toilet papers too. If you don't think that this is silly and ridiculous, you shouldn't have laughed about the 3 toilet paper robbers in Hong Kong. Hong Kongers are embarrassed about them and felt that they have made a laughing stock of the country. Only 1 aunty and 3 robbers but they can destroy a country's image. Why won't CCS be angry? Did he scold Singaporeans during a parliament seating? No, it was a closed door meeting. What is a closed door meeting? Well, it's something like you came back after a stressful day at work and ranted about your boss or a colleague to your husband or wife. I believe he would have used phrases like \"that stupid boss\", \"this idiot XXX\" which I bet things that you won't say in the office. It's something like you disciplined your child and warned him never to misbehave in public again and disgrace you. I am not a big fan of CCS but I think we have to be fair to this Ah Beng. He can speak to an international audience with perfect English and Singlish to his peers. What's wrong with that? When the G declared Dorscon Orange, people don't understand and run on the supermarkets. When CCS spoke Singlish, people question whether he knows how to speak proper English. :imconstipated: If your child did something wrong do you scold him by saying \"I warn you not to repeat what you have just done or else you will get caning from me\" or as common parents do by saying \"oi stop or I whack you\". :pokeeye:[/quote]Agree. We need to ustand in context, that it’s a closed-door communication to a target audience. Consultation with bzmen is not & will not be this one session & anyone speaking to his audience will ensure lingo matches to ground level w/o pompous choice of words. I’m sure the Queen of England will be appalled by such street language, but I’m sure she’ll u’stand thats part of her subject’s job to assimilate and willing to speak at any level to reach out to the intended audience.

It’s not easy for one to be able to switch fr perfect communication to street level communication. When I hold training, I’m always amused how they pitch the same company msg to diff levels of staff & they can roll with the audience. :salute:

Hi, actually, Jadedfox's quote matches cna's... that is, 2 cruise deaths (Japanese in their 80s), bringing the total covid deaths (within Japan) to 3. (sorry for rough translation...)

Rockfest is still going to be held? :slapshead:

Temperature taking is useless. Half of those infected in Diamond Princess Cruise is asymptomatic.

Been saying since... I don’t know. Alas, not as fanciful as the virus formerly known as the Wuhan virus so no one is paranoid by it

Other insurers are also covering. Should have received the SMS.

It seems most if not all insurers are providing this coverage on covid-19. Which insurer doesn't?
