Maximum 2 H3 subjects as per MOE guidelines. So definitely fake news.

MOE formula is quite simple. Maximum allowable units is 11+1 (for MTL).
4H2 is 8 units, plus GP and PW (1 each) makes a total of 10 units. Therefore, you canโ€™t take 2x H3 (additional of 1 unit each) with 4H2 as it will take you to 12. You will need to drop one of the H2 to H1 to stay within limits.

      3H2 + 1H1 + 3H3 and GP + PW makes a total of 12. So, you have the answer ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi, I am neither trying to say that the nyjc boy with 9 distinctions and 3 H3 is real or fake. I have no privy to NYJC data at all as well. Just sharing something. It is possible to hit 13 AUs. Maybe this is just one off exceptional case. There is one in HCI and it is reported in HCI website. So the HCI case is definitely real. The NYJC case????? I have totally no idea. ๐Ÿคท

O so 3H3 is actually possible.
I was confused cuz as Floppy mentioned MOE only allows max 2H3s.
Wow, if true, this NYJC boy is outstanding! Congrats to him.
actually don't know if 3 H3 possible or not but then again also don't know what really is inside the 13AUs (HCI case),

SHE must be a once in a generation talent for MOE to make an exception to their own guidelines (HCI is correct to describe the student as such). My guess is she must have a long list of referees willing to vouch and write in for her.

          WOW FIERCE SIA!!!!!

          Please don't spread fake news.

Seems like Parent has a habit of posting fake news about NYJC......the other time she claimed NYJC COP was 6/5 when it is actually 7/6
ryanryan,

I posted that NYJC COP was 6/5 was based on the initial news I received very early on the posting date. This was subsequently corrected by someone after it was officially announced.

My observation was based on some students COP 6 points net (10-4) not getting into the science stream. Later, news later emerged that COP 6 point net (8-2) got into Science stream.

So, sharing the initial observation is fake news?

Also, the NYJC boy who scored 9 Distinctions, including 3 H3, was announced by the principal.

If you don't know what you are talking about, don't accuse people of spreading fake news.

Btw, heard a NYJC boy attained 9 Distinctions, including 3 H3 subjects.

Errr,,,is this news reliable? How to have 3 H3 subjects?

For a student to take even 2 H3 subjects, he or she needs to drop 1 H2 subject to H1, even though the student is able to cope with 4 H2 + 2 H3 subjects. So, how is it possible for the student to even take 3 H3 subjects? :scratchhead:

I am newbie in this area. Can anyone please enlighten?

Principal announced it when students when to school yesterday.

                    Hi Parent,

During NYJC announcement yesterday, did the Principal announce that this exceptional boy's case was 2H3 and not 3H3 ?

                      On clarification,

The principal announced he got 9 Distinctions and the students concluded he must have taken 3 H3.

My apologies for any misunderstanding. I just share what I heard.

While itโ€™s still 13AUs, it should rightfully be presented as 12+1 AU. However, that would have contradicted MOE policy and guidelines of 11+1 AUs and treatment of H3/H2 subjects. If an exception can be made for 2H3 and 4H2, you can be sure that maybe half of RI / HCI would be clamoring for it. For MOE to deviate, it has to be an unusual case for a once-in-a-generation talent ๐Ÿ˜‚

TBH For HCI, I doubt the brightest pupils have HCL to contend with, especially so when the student likely came from a top SAP school. I doubt the 9 distinctions would include MTL.
