July. And there are confirmed cases elsewhere in Korea (see link below). I'm just wondering how it will affect my friend if Singapore bars people who fly in from Korea, if he is just in transit in Seoul.
When is yr frd’s impending travel? At the moment, SKorea’s clusters seemed to be confined to 2 identified locations. Hope with their vigilance, it doesn’t spread to rest of SK, owise if escalates, not abt having travelled or touch its border line but yr frd shld be more concerned abt catching virus in enclosed environment.slmkhoo\" post_id=\"1964915\" time=\"1582684475\" user_id=\"28674:
Does anyone know whether a passenger who transits in an airport is considered as having \"travelled\" to that country? Eg. If someone transits in Seoul, will he be considered as having travelled in Korea? I have a friend planning to fly to Singapore, transiting in Seoul. I know there are no advisories against Seoul itself now, but will he be affected if the bar extends to all of Korea?

Hope the world doesn’t end up overproducing tons and tons of masks due to fear.
For SG, since SARS until now, for the past 17years our demand for masks has been low. Even if we just produce N95, due to worldwide shortage of raw materials, our masks factory also stuck.
So if we are all equipped with the know-how to DIY reusable cloth masks and DIY hand sanitizers (e.g. X% alcohol plus something else), that would be useful.
Maybe next time govt can just provide large barrels of hand sanitizers outside Community Centres or MRT, we can then refill with our own small bottles. Cos I heard factories actually had hard time producting small plastic bottles fast enough to meet soaring demand -
Once again need some suggestions from you all.
What precautions/ care to take if one is travelling on a long haul flight?
Packing wet wipes, hand sanitizer, masks… -
Maybe there are many deaths in Iran because of US sanctions affecting their medical supplies.

More environmentally friendly also, reusing plastic bottles.

If you are referring to cloth masks, I think you can just buy them (not easy to DIY unless you have sewing machine at home). Don't think these masks are effective against coronavirus though, but I do see people wearing cloth masks over surgical masks, probably to extend the usability of surgical masks due to the current shortage.
Good to have our own mask production plant. Else we would be caught in CCS’ logic, obsessed in safeguarding what limited mask stockpile we have and neglect to find ways to grow the stockpile.coast\" post_id=\"1964823\" time=\"1582618338\" user_id=\"38933:

Mr Gan Thiam Poh (Ang Mo Kio GRC), who had asked Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong what lessons can be learnt from the coronavirus situation and what can be improved upon to better prepare Singaporeans for a pandemic outbreak.
Mr Gan had also asked if the Government will include the production of masks and other medical protective gear as a strategic facility, and support investment in such a facility here.
Singapore is looking for new sources of supply for masks and developing capabilities to manufacture them locally as other Asian countries clamp down on mask exports, Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong has said.
抱残守缺,不思进取。
However, from an economic perspective, given Singapore’s high cost structure, it may not be practical to set up a plant. After all, SARS happened 17 years ago and in between, the local demand for masks is low. At the same time, we are still dependent on other countries to import raw materials to make masks.
Can we hold courses to teach fellow Singaporeans how to make reusable masks? I see Taiwanese doing that. We can do our part to reduce our carbon footprint.
I am impressed with how supermarkets have restocked their shelves and everything is pretty back to normal within a few days. But masks, thermometers and hand sanitisers have been out of stock in most retailers for more than a month now. I am sure our government is looking at how to handle this better in future, as mentioned in the news article above. -

http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20200225000788[/quote]Best find ano route w/o stopover at SKorea. Where’s he coming from? Possible to transit at ano country’s airport not known to be badly hit? Best get him to be armed with masks, gloves, sanitizers, wear a hood & long sleeves. I really don’t know answers for these esp our human eyes can see the devil lurking in the darkness.
A frd just left for Turkey & cldn’t cancel her flight which was planned last year & ano frd’s family trip to Taiwan in June. There’s no official curb for these families to claim refunds thro airlines or insurance for accommodation cancellations. So my frd armes herself with alcohol wipes, sanitizes, masks, gloves and all that she knows fr her nursing experiences.
Let’s pray this the global community band together to fight this devil & tightly control further spread. We continue to do our part in staying hygiene & healthy. -

Gloves coz not every airline sanitize internal of planes after every single flights. SQ removed all magazines but some others still leave them in for passengers (and those quite worn out pages, eeek!).
Once again need some suggestions from you all.
What precautions/ care to take if one is travelling on a long haul flight?
Packing wet wipes, hand sanitizer, masks...
Alcohol wipes in case u hv to eat out & not sure if cutleries are properly cleansed or serving staff are carriers.
Hoods & long sleeve as u’ll hope nobody drop any unseen on yr hair or shoulders.
If u hv a choice, choose window seats, as aisle are too exposed to many other passengers & crew pace along aisle. No guarantee suggestions here.
Abv all, try to clear bladders before flights & not use washroom on plane. Keep yr face sacred as mouth, eyes & nose are virus happy playgrd. Keep safe & hv a safe trip. -

Temasek Foundation is already running a mini factory to mix chemicals to produce hand sanitizers. But it'll be ready in March, and priority is frontline workers, followed by the public.
Or we should get sme produce hands sanitizers/ disinfectant too, dun think there is too much chg in biz op process if they have existing plant doing chemical / cleaning/washing stuff (another :scratchhead: ) too
There's no need to manufacture small bottles. Just rinse your existing travel kit bottles thoroughly, or buy a pack from Sasa, Muji, Daiso or Ikea to go pump some free sanitizer next month.

I think that the line in red is the only thing you need to remember, actually. Gloves, hoods, sleeves, masks etc won't really help if you allow them to touch your face, or touch your hands and then your face. Wipes might help, but you still never know if they have really sanitised what you've wiped, so you still need to be careful not to touch your face. Same with washroom or any other surfaces.

I hear that the air in planes is pretty clean because of good filters, so unless someone actually sneezes/coughs on you, you should be OK. Wearing a mask would be some protection, but not very comfortable. And as long as the food and cutlery was covered and sealed while being served, it should be OK.
