So still don’t close schools because precious parents need to go work ?
I am still trying to figure out what \"precious parents\" mean.

Oh you bet Persia is cold now! Brrrr….
          https://postimg.cc/4n1Z68kr

Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Syria and Afghanistan snow often.
Occasionally Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt will get snow.
But no snow in UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Yemen, just very nice & cool from Oct - Mar, like Taiwan & HK, minus the moisture.

Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore also have UV light, but still...aircon!

just curious - do you wear a mask when giving home tuition? do you make your tutees wear a mask and sanitize their hands? Or if you go to tutee's home, do parents make you wear a mask and sanitize your hands? Do they need to provide a mask for you every week?

              \"precious parents\" mean Human Capital, the income-earners and economy-drivers.
If all plants shut down, retail malls/shops shutter, offices empty, stock mkt plummets, listed companies delisted, supply chain disrupted, so no trade, no import/export passing thru our Singapore port which will be idle, and no revenue will be generated.

                zeit,

I don't wear a mask when giving home/class tuition. Yeah, I use hand sanitizer instead since there's contact with teaching/writing materials and surfaces. Thus, I jumped at the chance when I saw https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=95466&p=1964622&hilit=chenlaoshi#p1964606 since it would be good to be able to provide for the students too

A couple of my home tuition students already have the habit of putting on masks when they're having any slight cough/flu (prior to Covid-19). These students put on masks during each lesson now. As for the others, the situation is very much as 'per normal', with constant reminder of personal hygiene.

For my classes, other than using disinfectant spray/surface cleaner, I get the students to wash their hands before and after each lesson before they leave.

I decided against holding sch holiday workshops this March sch holiday and am exploring online learning options (suggestions are welcome! 😄 ). Not easy for CL - perhaps more suitable for oral component.

Agree. It’s not just abt weather but multi-faceted factors - density of ppl, leaves of personal hygiene & social responsibilities, healthcare available, community containment & how much their society get critical info fr govt & laws/regulations to direct ppl’s behaviour & responsibilities.

I suspect tt Iran hv fallen behind in managing community spread response both at individual levels, medical level as well as govt level.

Saw some of my friends’ kids using Microsoft Teams program for their online tuition lessons. I’m not very sure how it works, but I think chenlaoshi u can figure it out. U strike me as a very tech-savvy teacher! An easier option (non-interactive) is to upload your PowerPoint slides to a password-encoded link for your paying students.

                    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Teams

Another one is Zoom Meetings software:

Education Minister Ong Ye Kung should resign if he refuses to close schools to protect our students

Mr Ong Ye Kung you have made a seriously bad judgement call; for the honour of Singapore's political system you should close all schools TODAY, at the same time re-consider your position and allow a politician who is capable enough to make tough decisions ahead take over!

When will the education minister resign I wonder? He has refused to shut down schools, despite surrounding countries already doing or having done so. I have repeatedly called for the curriculum to be delivered online via e-learning instead of permitting lessons in physical classrooms to continue, yet my advice has fallen on deaf ears even till now!

The situation is ok right now. I can help students by a step by step process of explaining the reason behind the different rules, as well as demonstrating the techniques to help make learnign these rules easier. By these steps I need a helper https://tooly.io/julius-caesar/ where students can get pure info about Julius Caesar in form of free essays. Also by understanding the history and back ground of the English language it helps to gain a better understanding of the origin and influences over time.
