Zoom seems to be the more commonly used option from what I have gathered so far.
Have always wanted to explore/develop online platform for CL learning in the hope of reaching out and benefiting more students/parents as well as cultivate interest for the language, but never put into concrete actions.
I guess one \"positive\" of such situation is it pushes educators to look deeper into how we can maximize the use of technology (esp. for online learning) and gauge/review how effective the Student Learning Space/Learning Management System are, for \"intensive use\" (in the case of prolonged period due to circumstances, rather than just ad-hoc basis or for annual e-learning day's use). -

Not all families have someone at home to watch younger kids, and many of the parents who would have to stay home may well be the medical staff and sanitation workers we can't spare. And older kids may not stay at home - imagine thousands of teenagers with free time hanging about outside. If something happens, they won't be pointing fingers (hopefully) cos it's the choice that they have made. Not all have the luxury of having an adult to look after the kids at home. Just as Slmkhoo has rightly pointed out, there are people like medical staff who even have to put in extra hours in the present situation and there will be more stress on them if it becomes worse.
Well, maybe the school can get parents to sign a consent and option form to
1. Let their children stay at home :
a. be home schooled by their parents who are staying home. Parents may come to understand how tough a teacher's job is.
b. or do e-learning (if caregiver like grandparents who are not able to teach)
2. Continue to go to school.
3. Do away with assessments and exams until the end of the year or when the virus is eradicated.
With some parents choosing the 1st option, there will be less children in school and less community transmission if the unthinkable does happen. By abolishing assessments and exams, parents who choose the 1st option won't feel shortchanged (aka kiasu).

My friend’s kids in HK have been stuck at home since 3 Feb. And 2 days ago, HK government has announced a further extension of school closure till 20 April. Similar, my friends in Japan are wondering what to do since their government has announced school closure till 3rd April. No laughing matter. Or apply for no pay leave which may or may not be approved by employer

In a media statement, MOH clarified that there had been no fatality related to the virus in Singapore as of 4pm on Friday.
A Twitter user claimed in a tweet dated Thursday that his maid’s friend, who is also a maid, had just died from Covid-19 in Singapore.

The pet dog of a coronavirus patient in Hong Kong has been found to have a “low level” of the virus, the Hong Kong government said early Friday.
The dog tested “weak positive” for the coronavirus, the city’s agricultural and fisheries department said in a statement, without giving further details. Officials will carry out further tests to confirm whether the dog has really been infected with the disease, or if it was a result of environmental contamination of its mouth and nose.
Much is still not known about the virus that is spreading around the world after emerging in central China late last year. It is thought to have transferred to humans from bats and has been shown to spread in a number of ways, but the Hong Kong agricultural department said it doesn’t have evidence that pet animals can be infected, or be a source of infection to people.
If confirmed, the dog would be the first case of a pet catching the coronavirus amid a global outbreak that’s now infected more than 82,000 people and claimed more than 2,800 lives.
The dog is being quarantined at an animal facility, the Hong Kong government said. The department strongly advised that pets of confirmed virus patients also be put under quarantine.

So such a person (the maid) does exist and had been tested at MOH but found to be negative. So in the end, did this maid die?
Actually can test what is the DNA of the antibodies using the new technology by Duke-NUS. Earlier I read that case number #91 was tested negative at MOH all the while till she recovered on her own. But using this new technology she was found to have contracted Covid-19 before!! -
