Hi, I am just only joining this group. Can someone recommend what maths assessment books are good for PSLE?
Actually most of the books as long got answer to view how to do the whole working is good. Most important thing now is practise.

          Hi Gracess,

If in urgent need, you can consider getting 词语手册.

Another alternative will be books from this series by EPH. There's a list provided at the start of each chapter's practice.

As for CL 阅读理解, here's something I shared previously (https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=84699&p=1826715#p1826715)

            Hi, need opinion on this.

Ds told me that he feel that the Maths tuition is very boring. The tutor is not engaging and merely just teach and teach. He asked me whether it is possible to stop.
At this point in time with only 7 months to PSLE, i am rather nervous to change tutor. I asked myself whether I can teach since i have been coaching him all these years. There are some problem sums that I am not sure how to do them. But most of them I can do it. If I were to teach, what materials is good to instil the concepts?

Is it ok to be honest with the tutor and tell her to make the lesson more interesting or engage more with ds?

            find out,
which Maths topic or concept(s), your son don't understand ?
Get the tuition Tr to explain to him the concepts. Is it because his fundamental is shaky, not firm ?
Better still, get him to read up fundamental Theory from his own school's Maths textbook, go through the Worked examples / solution inside the textbook himself, for that particular topic he dont understand.

If he still don't get it, after reading up Theory fundamental, chip in your own effort to teach him, Or
engage his primary school classroom Maths Teacher to explain to him, by getting your son to book an appointment, ask Tr when he can see her (him) in the staffroom after school dismissed, until he can fully understand, what he does not understand

if he still don't understand, after u teach him, after his tuition Tr teach him, plus after his school Tr teach him,
then is time to be honest with yourself, analyse : is he having any learning difficulty, in Maths ?
What is it, that he still don't understand, despite a few people helping him ?
Where is the root of his problem ?
go & tackle the source, root of the problem

is this tuition Tr first time u hired her, or have previously changed a few other tuition Maths Tr before, but still didn't work out ?

            For P6 level students,
Primary schools conduct remedial lessons in small group, for students who need help. Your son on his own initiative, can approach his school Maths Tr to join, so as to speed up clarification of All (any) doubts that he has. These lessons are useful, because aim (target) by primary school Tr, to help students as much as they can.
The good thing is, as it is being conducted in small group, Tr can pay attention to the P6 pupil's weakness.

Also, find out how your son learn, best
            Is he a
            - Visual learner, understand things better through the use of picture / graph ?

            - or an Auditory learner? Learn things better, through hearing info ?

            - or a Kinesthetic learner ? Learn things better, by engaging through activity, to grasp concepts easier ?

Engage the right tool / strategy / technique accordingly, to help him as much as possible , for the last 5 months. Now is fast approaching end February, Psle Oral begin August

He complain that the maths tutor lesson is very boring and mundane. I have since spoken to the Maths tutor about this. She took it positively and did try to encourage ds and chat with him on other matters to make the lesson more lively.

But it also boils down to ds attitude.....

                Parents,

May i check with you whether you leave entirely to the tutors to help your kid in preparation of PSLE?

This 2020 Psle batch (born 2008),

is the final, last batch to undergo T-score Psle system, before T-score go down into dinosaur history

This Saturday morning, dated 7 March 2020, Moe website had just updated All Secondary schools' Cut-off-point, via T-score entry, for latest Psle 2019 batch last year (born 2007)

                  Eg.

If the tutors have a good track record of PSLE prep experience and are the responsible kind, I would be more “fangxin”.

But as a kiasu parent, I will still monitor the progress at my end. U never know when the tutor would suddenly quit/fall sick.

As PSLE is a high stake National exam, and the children at 12 years old or 11 years old + (for year-end born kids) are still very young, best if parents are around to help supervise, provide guidance

                      - to what extent have your child finished revision for the various subjects' topics expected, and

                      - to what extent or degree, does your child understand so far, per each topic ?

As for DSA, it is good to try out, experience the process themselves.
But have or don't have DSA offer, never mind. At end of the day, Tscore (results) is a clearer, more accurate picture, of where your child truly stand. Is he (she) stronger in languages, or in Maths & Science ?

Depends on your child's ability. If he/she is very good in the subject, get him/her books with problem sums and skip the drills. If not, those that have different levels of difficulty like \"Step by Step Maths\" whereby the easy level is to ensure his/her understanding of the topics before progressing towards the problem sums. For a P6 child, there won't be much time to go through the basics but for a very weak child, it will at least ensure that he/she is able to pass Paper 1 if he/she cannot do the problem sums in Paper 2. Personally, I prefer to use CASCO, EPH and Andrew Er.
