All students who enter NYGH enter the IP course. There is no O-level option during application. This includes students who come in via DSA.

Having said that, at the end of Sec2, some are identified to do the O-level course from Sec3 if the school determines that they may be more suitable to take the O-level exams.[/quote]
Thank you for the information. Am curious to know if the morning assembly is conducted in chinese?

Can check what’s the popular cca over at nygh ?
Once selected, can My daughter still change if doesn’t like it ?

Most of the sports/ performing arts/ outdoor activities are popular, just because there are more limited slots in each.
There are 5-6 choices for your daughter to fill in after attending the CCA fair, trials & auditions, so most girls should be able to find one that they like. Usually, they are encouraged to try it out for at least the remainder of the year.

There are opportunities to change CCAs at the beginning of Sec2. But the new CCA should have agreed to take them before going to the current CCA teacher & CCA Head and inform them and make the change request.

for some classes, the CCA allocation announcement list showed 2 or 3 students as \"TBC\", which probably means none of the students' CCA choices was successful. The CCA head will probably meet these students to discuss their options.

Personally to me, MSG 3.333 for Term 1 is not a good start. But it serves as a wake up call to buckle up for other tests and assignments which are 15% of the overall MSG. Of course more effort have to put in to the end of EOY which is 60% of the overall MSG. Although Term 1 holds 10% of the overall, but things get harder to score if your dd did not manage well. It is not about the marks will slowly improve automatically after the end of the year. It depends whether there is effort make from your daughter to improve the overall MSG at the end of the year. May I ask which level is your dd in this year?

Absolutely spot on. The results can go either way depending on how much effort is put in. There won't be an automatic improvement - effort needs to be put in.

Since WA1 has the smallest weightage of the year, the results can improve if the scores are better in the higher-weightage tests as the year progresses. On the other hand, if the foundation in the topics are not strong and the learning attitude is negative, then it can also get harder to do well as the tests will build on the topics throughout the year.

Having said that, this is only Year 1 and the requirement to get promotion is MSG6 so don't overly panic as well. This is a good time for them to get used to the school programs and to learn how to be independent as well as plan out their activities and practise good time management.

Keeping an eye on the overall MSG for the 6 or 7 subjects is important, but must also remember that passing the 2 languages is required to promote to Sec 2. i heard tat for some classes, a handful of students failed the chinese test this term (so maybe 15-20 of them for the Sec 1 cohort?) and they have been put into chinese remedial lessons.
