Term 1 has ended on Fri, I believe all WA1 results were returned before end of term.

All results should be out before term ended last Friday.

MSG is basically averaging the grades of the core subjects. Eg. MSG of A1, A1, A2, B3, B3, C5 is (1+1+2+3+3+5)/6 = 2.5

I think it varies but it is useful if there's still communication between child/ parents. It helps us in knowing what's going on, their group of friends, stress and other school issues.

As for WA information, while the students get a lot of email communications from the school which the parents are not copied, there are some important emails that are sent out to parents as well. Each term, there is a Term Letter with activities & important info listed - sent out by the principal to all parents. Also, there are emails with Student Handbook which lists out the rules & exams (including what subjects, passing criteria, etc.

So do take some time to go through all those communications. You should have received all those if you have registered your email and phone numbers with the school. There is also a school portal (for Sec1, maybe you will get your passwords a bit later) for you to get more info.

After term 1, parents are also asked to access the portal to read the progress report for their child. Besides the scores, each subject teacher will also write some comments in each student's strengths and weaknesses with regards to that particular subject. Quite useful in my opinion.

I think the first few communications during the beginning of Sec1 are thru the students’ email. The subsequent parents-communications were sent directly to the parents’ email once they got everything keyed in and set up. Some announcements will also be sent via the Parents Gateway app in addition to emails.

Have you checked with the form teacher if your email is registered with the school? My girl is in Year 2. Last year, at the PTM, the FT checked with some parents not already on her list to confirm their email addresses. When the schedule on WA is given to students, parents will be informed via email so that you can check with your girl if you want to.

Does the school share the syllabus that is tested for the full year? Realised seems only concept subjects are given the full year syllabus and for the progress report, most teachers leave blank comments. Is that normal? I noticed LA and HCL does not even have commentaries at all. I would expect a overall form teacher review.
