However, Singapore Airlines cannot guarantee that they will be accepted but there is a chance that Singapore Airlines will have some seats available. In such a scenario, you should preferably not have already put in a request through this system as we would like to avoid duplication and clogging up the system. We seek your understanding and cooperation to ensure the smooth operation of this system we have put in place, which we would fine-tune as necessary.

Honestly, during the frenzy buying, I find Singaporeans orderly and did not cause any public nuisance.

I saw a video of two Australian aunties slapping each other over toilet paper at the supermarket. In China, one lady dragged a sack of rice while another cried and sat on it.

For the videos from America, very weird to see that some just buy a whole trolley of fresh milk ONLY and another one bought a whole trolley of fresh eggs and NOTHING ELSE. I mean, won’t these expire in 2 weeks time? Sorry to say my impression now is that average Americans are not just obese, their IQs also....

I accidentally liked your video. Where did you get your insight on USA stereotypes. I went to USA last year, I did not think they were all obese or of low IQ - having travelled east coast to west coast. The percentages were no different than any other country - seems 36% in US are obese, like a majority of the world. These are trying times, and an unprecedented situation we live in. I do not begrudge bulk buying; I do agree panic buying is irrational. When I go bulk buying shopping, it’s for the essentials for my elderly father, his elderly neighbours and then my family.

Swissotel, Fairmont, Furama, Genting are some of the hotels I know that are in MOM's list of designated lodgings (aka corporate rate negotiated by MOM). There are smaller ones in Geylang too for the SMEs. Malaysian PRs and Malaysian workers cannot stay in a 8-bedder hostel. They must have a proper twin- or triple-bed room according to the hostel association. This is because they are sort of used to staying in spacious terrace houses in JB. They are not like the PRCs who are used to bunking in barracks. That is why we have to splurge on 4/5-star hotels to persuade the Malaysians to stay in SG for 14 days. And some angmoh MNCs also gave each of them $20/day allowance, as they need to eat at SG foodcourts (e.g. at Raffles City below Swissotel).

Though we're grateful for their sacrifice, we must wake up to the fact that we are over-dependent on Malaysian workers. In particular, this lockdown has exposed our SMEs' over-reliance on Malaysian workers and SPR workers. Imagine what the new Msian govt will do in future, if they need to squeeze our 4G ministers ?

It's disturbing to know that so many Malaysians are working in our ESSENTIAL SERVICES. How can SG allow ourselves to be potentially held ransom by the Malaysian govt? They will cripple our essential services by extending the lockdown and bankrupt us because you have to keep them here for a longer period. Phase 1 = S$210mil burnt on the hotel/hostel subsidy to SMEs and GLCs. Extended Phase 2 = S$ x million ??

The new PM knows he cannot eradicate the spread in 2 weeks, because we're looking at a 16k-pax event + contacts.

So many of them are in public transport, fire dept (I guess), auxiliary police (those serving quarantine orders and guarding the GFQs at night I guess), LTA officers, healthcare (at least 1k in our private hospitals and clinics), some in cleaning services, security guards (those doing night shifts at Condos, Factories and Office Buildings while the Singaporean security guards are sleeping), facility mgmt. services and logistics.

I don't know how to solve this problem as no Singaporeans want to be in these jobs, and I'd rather hire Malaysians to be in these key essential services jobs than PRCs and Bangladeshis, as we have seen those PRC bus captains striking some years ago.

Hope there'll be some retired workers (e.g. nurses) from these sectors on standby in case those Malaysians, who are currently enjoying their 5-star stay here, start to miss their children and spouses in JB, and opt to return with no pay leave for the extended lockdown period. When Malaysia's healthcare system is burdened by more spikes in the coming weeks, we must be mentally prepared that they might ''recall'' (i.e. bar exit) their skilled healthcare workers serving in SG hospitals.

Schools shutdown, here in the UK, on Friday. TBH, I agreed with the idea of restricting over 60s to the home, keeping kids at school and going for the herd immunity plan. Seems like our PM Boris Johnson is kowtowing to his critics, or adapting to new data/science trends. I hope it’s the latter.

There was an SHN advisory issued on 15 Mar for the above countries.
SHN advisory for ALL COUNTRIES came out on 18 Mar and to commence on 20 Mar so hopefully most returning travellers fall under the former.

Gan Kim Yong said we might be converting some GFQs into wards for mild cases with no symptoms, and if their situation aggravates, they will be conveyed to a nearby hospital, e.g. Changi chalet to CGH. Some might even be asked to stay at home like what Seoul has done. It's better to ringfence the confirmed case within the family, never mind if he spreads one or all of his family members, than to have them spread to new clusters in the community. From a contact-tracing standpoint, it's easier to monitor 1 family that is quarantined, like we've seen a couple of family clusters in Taiwan. 家庭感染群

Those with overseas children returning these 2 days should strive to stay at home for 14 days too, even though it's before the deadline of 20 Mar, 2359hrs. It for the good of the community. If they start gallivanting in shopping malls, libraries, meeting up with old friends from school or religious groups, it's gonna be hellish for the MOH and CID to track. It's really hard to detect during the incubation period.
