Hi all
Random musings, here in England.
How are things in Singapore. Has the CB had a positive effect. Is the economy stabilising. What are the impacts to schooling.
Here in England traffic has gone up, and the populace is enjoying lockdown, but growing restless and starting to venture out a lot. Economy is sinking quickly. Our supposedly great NHS is being mythologised as being a benchmark of spectacular medical prowess, through rose coloured spectacles. Misplaced reverence and adulation for the NHS is being talked up by virtue signallers who see it as the zeitgeist for such opportunists to align themselves to - in order to bolster their public profile. My sons will sit GCSEs and A Levels in 2021, so I’m currently focusing on completing the syllabus at home - which is a difficult task in itself. We live in hope of the CV vaccine trials being conducted in Oxford.

RE: Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Updates
Hi all - Good morning here, (Good afternoon there)
Hope you are all safe and well.
Just wanted to ask if any of you know of any reputable mask makes and manufacturers, ideally on Amazon, you could recommend, please. It’s really the 3 ply surgical masks I’m interested in.
Stay safe and well. -

I like the SG Government approach to enforcing CB; it's for your own good. You are more sensible than we in the UK are, so please follow official advice.
Supermarket basket
It's spreading like wild fire.
Try not to use the baskets at supermarket, put them directly into your own recycle bag and bring to payment counter.
The common basket carries great risk, as you just don't know who used it before you.
Please pass these msg to your love ones, considering so many people used basket, be safe.
Also do self check out.
The cashiers touch so many baskets
Re supermarkets, I also worry about supermarket trolley and basket handles, I wear gloves, but I then realise my gloves could be a potential vector. I worry about all food items being touched by hands. Regarding your superb advice in your posts, I will take my sanitizer with me, take my own bags and also use the self-scan checkouts.
Am self-conscious about wearing masks, as I got strange looks last week when wearing them. But, I suppose it's better to look odd than succumb to CV19. I will wear the mask this morning at the shops. -

You’re viewed with reverence, including your approach to CV19 and tracing. Keep it up.

See how we are viewed from outside sg,

How they view our CB and hence essential services.
This article in the Daily Mail shows how panicky and spooked, in the UK, we are: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8210133/Terrified-public-worried-coronavirus-NOT-want-lockdown-eased-research-shows.html -

I got my goggles and gloves today, from China, which I ordered via Amazon UK.
I feel a little more assured now, especially as we are getting upwards of 800plus daily deaths, here in the UK.
But, I did reuse my mask. If I bin it after each use, I’ll never have enough to use. -

Situation is dire, but I do wish we followed the Swedish model. The economy has tanked here, in the UK; we need to get back to work and find a way to coexist with the CV19 virus.
how is the lock-down situation in England ?Newtandcucumber\" post_id=\"1970722\" time=\"1586518617\" user_id=\"133333:
Btw, Happy Easter to you all.
Stay safe and well.
can u travel or drive out more than 10 km, from your house ?
No real restrictions on travel, though officially some are told not to travel to second homes - but they do.
I wore a mask to the supermarket today and felt a little silly, but needs must. Not sure masks are that protective.
Btw, I saw your PM on YouTube. I saw his address and admired his oratory, the substantive points communicated, his bluntness and optimism.
Stay safe and well. -

Not sure I like the idea of my food being prepared, handled and delivered by strangers, not knowing their hygiene standards or whether may be wittingly/unwittingly carrying CV19 when handling your food
Since January, majority of us did not put on a mask, while over in HK, majority has been wearing a mask. Their schools closed pretty early in January while ours only started closing in April.starlight1968sg\" post_id=\"1970696\" time=\"1586505175\" user_id=\"14025:
Back then, I thought we did pretty well, our figures not very far from them.
If not because we did not handle the 1st wave of overseas returnees well, which then resulted in a second wave of community infections. -

We had a National round of applause at 8pm, one of the weekdays last week, for NHS workers - here in the UK. Again, like your round of applause for the teachers it’s just nothing vacuous pap and innocuous platitudes. My wife works in the NHS and need better PPE. Your teachers need the same. Tangible PPE is better than intangible applause.

Thank you, mine are twins... In different classes somemore

Btw, ordered PPE for my wife, and found it came from China. I cancelled the order - as unsure of quality standards, and the undoubted lack of hygiene standards over there. China’s Government should now be referred to as a pariah regime, as it is culpable for inflicting the Covid-19 Virus Plague against humanity - be it by design or negligence. The human, social and economic costs make it incumbent upon the Chinese Government to pay reparations to affected countries worldwide. -
