Chill is better, just let staff, parents, students breathe & take a break, enjoy their family time.

That’s what this period should be about...spending quality time with loved ones and treasuring our precious moments together. Life is too short.[/quote]
Not sure about taking a break - it's good that we can reduce commuting time, but for most of us, work and studies still go on, just differently.

It doesn't feel too strange for my family as it's reminiscent of our time overseas - our kids did internet school and we worked from a home office. So I find it's been quite easy for us to slip back into that way of life even though that was nearly 7 years ago. I find it quite amusing to see the articles about how to set a schedule for working from home or HBL, how to separate work and play etc, as it comes naturally to us now. Speaking from experience, it's do-able and you'll get used to it. Just get the groundrules set, especially for the kids.

We haven't been able to have the same \"quality time\" as a family yet as my younger girl is only finishing her SHN tomorrow. We've talked to her from a distance, but haven't been able to do things together yet, like play board games, do jigsaws, watch stuff online, bake, etc as we would normally do when stuck at home.

My kids are grappling with assessments being changed, exams cancelled... For my NTU girl, her classes have all moved online, exams and group projects have been converted to work-alone assignments, and the semester will end at the normal time. She's also managed to land an internship, so that's her settled over the vacation period. The younger one has just been told that other than 1 assignment, there will be no classes or exams in the summer term, and everyone will be promoted to the next year - she actually would prefer to have exams! Of course, her department or supervisor may well have additional work for them anyway, so we wait to hear. She is most concerned that she will have nothing much to do from May till September! She was arranging an internship overseas (now cancelled), so hasn't got anything lined up in Singapore. So if anyone knows of volunteer or temp work for students, please let me know.

For those with younger kids, this period will be tougher. Take care.

I randomly picked one case to find out more. Case 870 was reported to have caught the virus from case 393.

Case 393 is a 21yo male, UK returnee. Passed it to (family member) case 870, who finished the quarantine but tested positive subsequently.

Must be the first wave of returnees was poorly managed which lead to a subsequent rise in cases (e.g. returnees spread to their close family members)

Anyone knows what exactly went wrong for the Wilby Road Condo cluster? As usual, MOH did not go into the details. Either they had BBQ together or something wrong with the cleanliness or even sewage system of the condo?

i also suspect before & mentioned, some returnees came back before the Formal annoucement of SHN.
these returnees might hav caught virus since EU/ US returnee students are oblivious- they think the virus cant travel to them who are these far. some fren fren said their kid got covid BUT had been out meeting frens n relatives earlier before the law kick in 😞 - i do think certain extent of such news can be true.

Go out , can ! But just dun hang too long n avoid crowd lor

Parents inform their returned children “got covid BUT had been out meeting frens n relatives” :yikes:

That’s how sensibly low some ppl hv been & I hope this has changed.

The govt stepping up to send strong signals to eyers of big or small organ to let eyees telecommunute when reasonably possible otherwise stagger hours & maintain physical distance. I’m sure one report for needing eyees to stay away will send officers checking up on office premises.

Wilby Condo is actually an expat Service apt serving mostly corporate expats (CEO, GM caliber) with some long term residents fr UK & US. I’m surprised they’ve not kept vigilant with sanitizing or implement strict social distancing.

With this cluster, it cld be by way of returning kids of expats as a safer place in SG than their homecountry where the kids complete their tertiary studies or returning bz community. I know some expat families there sent their kids back to UK for studies & visit SG only during summer holidays. Spread most likely lack of frequent cleaning & sanitizing of life buttons, rails, swimming pool decks & chairs, etc, unless these expats take BBQs as a way of Staying Home but mingle with their kind. 🤷

Expats cld be visiting Cold Storage supermkt or those along Orchard (Huber for meats) or even Dempsey (HQ of Huber). Avoid Orchard as best if I’ve no other alternatives.

We had a National round of applause at 8pm, one of the weekdays last week, for NHS workers - here in the UK. Again, like your round of applause for the teachers it’s just nothing vacuous pap and innocuous platitudes. My wife works in the NHS and need better PPE. Your teachers need the same. Tangible PPE is better than intangible applause.

Btw, ordered PPE for my wife, and found it came from China. I cancelled the order - as unsure of quality standards, and the undoubted lack of hygiene standards over there. China’s Government should now be referred to as a pariah regime, as it is culpable for inflicting the Covid-19 Virus Plague against humanity - be it by design or negligence. The human, social and economic costs make it incumbent upon the Chinese Government to pay reparations to affected countries worldwide.

Last time MOH was more forthcoming, now it doesn’t mention much.

HK friend told me if this were to happen to a condo in HK, HK would seal off the condo (封楼). That condo was said to have sewage system problem, thus, the neighbor staying one level above passed the virus to those staying downstairs!!

Cant resist free parking so I went down Orchard Road today. Surprised to see the notice that ION has temporarily suspended its free parking to be in line with government’s social distance move. 😢
On the other hand, Govt just reduced EPR charges for many locations. 🤷 If ERP raised to $5 or more, it should deter people from running around.
