Are they doing the swab at Changi airport now? But I understand it is not foolproof also as they can swab wrong part or the virus is not a lot yet to be able to get detected.
Newspapers never report that, only mention that 9 out of 10 imported cases somehow managed to pass undetected through the border checks (thermal scans).
Yesterday, I was taken aback too when I read that 9 in 10 of the imported cases, did not show symptoms, like fever, when they pass through the checkpoints. Only days later, when these people started feeling unwell then they went to see a doctor did they get detected.lee_yl\" post_id=\"1968297\" time=\"1585045882\" user_id=\"17023:
Quite disturbed to read that many imported cases were asymptomatic before boarding
Earlier I read on ST, something like telling us not to worry as many imported cases are stopped at the airport checkpoints and straight away being sent to NCID !?
I think swab tests if have, are conducted only on selected passengers who display some cough / flu / fever symptoms upon arrival. -

Any mention since enrichment centres will be closed from Thurs onwards till end April, who is going to pay for the course fees? The enrichment centres or parents?

Based on above link, may I clarify?
Did i interpret (after reading) correctly that, starting wef from tonight Tuesday 24 March,
ALL tuition centre have to stop (suspend) tuition lessons, regardless of which tuition subject,
for All (primary, Secondary, Junior College) students,
including
even those
P6 students taking PSLE or
16 year old Secondary school students taking O-level exam, or
18 year old JC2 students taking A-level exam, in this global crisis year-at-turn-of-a-new-decade (2020) ?
-
Agree, safer for everyone this way

Saw on fb page of a few tuition centres that they will switch to zoom online lessons. No mention of refund. I guess we have to call up tomorrow to confirm, probably really ‘hotline’ tomorrow.

this tightening of government covid virus rule come at an unfortunate timing, because
Mid-year exam SA1 for P6 students is held in the first week of May, right after labour day 1st May.
And this ban or suspension of tuition, end on April 30 month-end.
And many P6 students rely on SA1 mid-year-exam results to apply for DSA, into Secondary schools
Another question is,
for those big tuition centre that got hundreds of students concurrently attending tuition lessons at the same time on week-end Saturday and Sunday nine am morning until late evening, lessons held in different classroom
eg. Wang lao shi Chinese tuition centre,
can understand if they were to suspend lessons, until April 30
But how about small tuition centre, those that got less than 10 students attending, eg. only got 5 or 6 P6 students attending tuition ? still suspend, or can continue ?
Who dare to take such risk ?
if take risk,
if any P6 student or any other level student is caught having virus and the contact tracing is traced back to your tuition centre, can say \"bye bye\" to your operational license for tuition centre.
Singapore is very strict!
Just like what happened recently to those working fellow having virus, who are on LOA, supposedlyto stay at home, but instead they wandered around, spread around. In the end, MOM withdrew their Work permit, cannot come back to Singapore anymore -

Even if tuition centre were to give e-learning, the effect is VERY different from classroom learning, face to face
Saw on fb page of a few tuition centres that they will switch to zoom online lessons. No mention of refund. I guess we have to call up tomorrow to confirm, probably really ‘hotline’ tomorrow.
for example
During Chinese Comprehension lessons,
if a P6 student don't understand why laoshi give this \"li jie wen da\" answer, straightaway, inside the classroom at Wang lao shi, student can raise up his hand, ask and clarify with tuition teacher on the spot, \"Sorry, Teacher, i don't quite understand, why is the li jie wen da Comprehension answer for question #3, has to be answered in this way ? \"
But via e-learning, if child dont know, don't understand, how to verify ?
Anyway, parents pay tuition centre, is to have classromm learning face to face for their kids, not pay fees for their children to learn e-learning.
E-learning :
parents can accept, if primary schools conduct e-learning. In schools, Yes, parents can accept e-learning
But at tuition centre, No, don't think parents welcome the idea of e-learning
might as well go Popular bookshop, buy an Assessment book, let their child practise at home, instead of attend tuition centre, waste $ [pay a few hundred dollars, per Term] and time travelling up and down, to and fro to centre, just for e-learning? -

Agree that e-learning cannot replace face to face learning. If they extend the suspension beyond April, I think I will cancel the classes. I will just buy the notes and teach.

Still the best.
