You are lucky in that, your tuition centre still allow u to pay by month, whereby u can withdraw your child anytime, by giving 1 month advance notice.

But not so lucky for those who joined tuition centre, that enforce \"pay by Term\" basis
Our are not tuition classes tho, ours are enrichment like music n sports. I know of tuition classes are by month.

I don’t know if it’s possible to claw back half- or full-term fees? It’s not like it’s the tuition centres fault, right? They were all caught unawares last night too. The govt didn’t give them advance notice. If they say they’re going to provide distance-learning or Zoom alternatives, then just wait for the ID or link by end Friday. The enrichment materials can be downloaded from their website. As long as schools are not closed, students can still acquire the knowledge and pick up skills and strategies from MOE teachers. Those with high sense of preparedness would have self-studied the entire syllabus by last Dec, if not Mar hols.

I’m really concern govt will still spend time & energy on GE. Can they not overrule the timeline to hold next GE & postpone base on this COVID-19 situation? Wished they’ll just do that & focus on limiting spread & caring for those affected.

Just saw the new D’Resort quarantine location. One one hand look so nice in holiday resort but on the other hand, 14 days cld be bored to tears. It’s not like home u can find things to do. Sigh!
that's why they cannot go RED, because there are certain restrictions under DORSCON RED. Actually, it's already semi-RED because Safe Distancing is found under DORSCON RED, not ORANGE.

I wonder if this week's sitting is the last one. Will Parliament be dissolved this month or next? How much are we drawing down on our past reserves? We're bleeding...This Covid-19 will last till next year. Expect x % of our population to get it someday like chicken pox.

Our govt is spending so much on Covid-19. First, hotel subsidy for the Malaysians. Now hotels and transport for the US/UK returnees. OK, I suggested those last week, but I wrote 'to be paid by returnees'. Didn't expect our govt to pay for everything for the returnees. Then, came the D-Resort. Again paid for by the govt.

I wonder which 49 patients were transferred to the private hospitals. The info provided by MOH is getting lesser.

MOH doesn't tell us if we have enough ventilators. New York had 30,000 patients ytd and Fed Govt only sent NY 400 ventilators. The Governor of NY State was so mad. He said 26,000 people are going to die. I think BEDs are not an issue. It's the no. of ventilators that SG currently has that should be on our minds.

            Phase 1 = S$210mil burnt on the hotel/hostel subsidy to SMEs , MNCs and GLCs. Extended Phase 2 = S$ x million ??

The new PM knows he cannot eradicate the spread in 2 weeks, because we're looking at a 16k-pax event + contacts.

            14 April

Are taxpayers going to pay $50 x 14 x 300,000 to companies that need Malaysian workers to be here?

            https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/coronavirus-malaysias-movement-curbs-extended-to-april-14

What's the game plan? Just keep Healthcare and Transport sector workers after Phase 1? The rest like cleaners, logistics packers, security guards can head home?

Unlike some countries, we haven't gone RED or declared a state of emergency yet, so our armed forces cannot be mobilised to carry out certain tasks that are currently done by foreigners.
Taiwan uses its army guys to disinfect premises. US deploys its army to deliver essentials to their vulnerables under quarantine.

huh all paid by taxpayers? we need all 300k people arh?? all in essential services mah?? like tap water :faint: and later how are we going to mend the big hole in pocket 😢

.. home tuition - lowest risk, no impact, max attention.

              Still the best.

.. no vaccine or cure for COVID-19 yet. So, likely to be a recurring disruptive event.

Er, really? Last year my sick child passed bad cough to the home tutor. Both were sick for 3 weeks. Had to provide masks for both.

risks to both sides I would think.. tutors go to places, same as for students.

It seems quite a handful of Teachers still went Malaysia during the March holidays. A friend’s child in p6 now, both English and Maths teacher on LOA now in fact. A check with friends with kids in ip schools now also show quite a handful of us having online classes now as at least two Teachers went on LOA. Maybe the ‘ban’ to travel overseas came a week too late?

think gyms are banned too........anyone can confirm?

If you are refering to Rhythmic Gymnastics or Artistic gymnastics Sports training ( enrichment ), starting from Nursery (N2) 4 year old training onwards, Yes, they are included as well under \"Enrichment\" ban, starting \"26 / 3 to 30/4\" duration period ban

Other kind of Sports training from toddlers nursery / kindergarten age onwards, like
Fencing, golf, swimming, bowling, Akido, karate, takewondo, wushu, etc also suspended

                  The same apply to
Brain memory training, focus or enhance (improve) your concentration power lessons
eg. Shichida toddler lessons, or to

Abacus fast Maths calculation (computation) brain training as well, or Kumon starting as young as from 3.5 years old

cute, funny Cartoon drawing, creative Art drawing / painting / coloring, for toddlers too

Those Mindstretcher GEP training lessons, too

If these lessons are conducted at an Enrichment centre, Yes, suspended !

If any enrichment or tuition centre dare to conduct lessons secretly and if sway sway (bad luck) some pupil catch covid-19 virus and our expert professional in Singapore do contact tracing, can trace until reach that particular centre, owner(s) of the centre can face risky outcome like

                  - eg. their license to operate the enrichment / tuition centre can be removed permanently, or

                  - maybe pay a $ fine or lagi worse, go jail

                  - maybe their enrichment centre name become notorious overnight, get published inside Straits Times newspaper, centre spread catch people attention, etc

                  In contrast,
if private tutor is hired, go to the student's (pupil) house, teach 1 to 1, still can continue, no ban

                  Example

Hire a private tutor, to teach your child violin or piano music lessons or Art drawing at home, no ban

Why such a big difference ?

                  Because

If 1 to 1 private tuition,
if either tutor or pupil unfortunately strike covid-19 virus, at the very most, limited spread, both tutor and pupil go to hospital

                  In contrast,
If some spreader start spreading virus at a tuition (enrichment) centre, with hundreds of students present at those big, huge, popular centre, these students coming from so many different assorted primary / Secondary schools / Junior Colleges, the virus from just ONE spreader will spread fast, further into ALL these impacted primary / Sec schools / JCs. These hundreds of students will carry the virus back to their own school classroom, and in turn infect rest of the other fellow school mates as well during recess time, during school assembly, during CCA, during team project discussion when they open their mouth to talk, or at their school compound, become chaos, spiral out of control

                  That s why,
after that RI (Raffles Institution) boy incident case at MOELC (MOE Language centre) Bishan branch, in Term 1 (before March holiday), when Term 2 started on Monday 23/3 this week, students received news that MOELC lessons suspended

                  Why ?
                  the same reason

                  Inside MOELC,
so many other Secondary school students, from other Sec schools, not just RI one school only, concurrently attended the 3rd foreign language lessons, as that RI Sec 1 boy, during that Term 1 incident. Back then, they had to quickly do contact tracing, besides dis-infected that particular classroom properly, thorough job .

                  Eg.
got to trace quickly, which other Sec schools' students also used that same identical classroom, as him ?
Did he talk to other students, from other Secondary schools, before his lessons started ? Which Secondary schools, are these students from ?

Actually I was referring to gym, as in places you lift weights and take part in aerobics classes

MOH will no longer admit Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms to hospitals: Gan Kim Yong

The Ministry of Health (MOH) will no longer admit all confirmed Covid-19 patients, regardless of severity, to hospitals, in order to preserve capacity in Singapore’s healthcare system.

Patients with mild symptoms will instead be quarantined in a mix of private hospitals and converted Government Quarantine Facilities (GQFs), such as D’Resort in Pasir Ris, in order to focus Singapore’s critical hospital resources on the seriously ill.

According to Minister for Health Gan Kim Yong, speaking about this in Parliament on Wednesday (March 25), this is because 80 per cent of Covid-19 cases were mild to moderate, and therefore only require limited medical care.

Singapore previously admitted every Covid-19 case into hospitals

In his speech, Gan announced that Singapore will no longer be taking a conservative approach to the epidemic, due to the significant number of imported cases from returning residents and visitors, which may lead to more localised transmissions.

Previously, all confirmed Covid-19 cases, regardless of severity, were admitted to our hospitals, and remained there until they were tested negative for the virus twice, over a duration of 24 hours.

1 of my (sec school) kids' (IP) school has Zero teachers on LOA - perhaps the principal had already initiated his own travel advisory?... As for the other kid's (IP) school, they arranged for a stand in, on top of the LOA-teacher's own notes (uploaded online).

Another thing I notice, MOH is getting slower and slower in reporting the unlinked locally transmitted cases. Keep using imported cases to camouflage those unliked cases? MOH tracking team burning out?
Starting from today, MOH will increase contact tracing team from the earlier 3 to 20 teams.

New teams will include officers from public service and SAF. The 20 teams can trace up to 4000 cases each day.
