Hi parents

I have got a question pertaining to children taking school bus transport . With the HBL starting from April 8 to at least until May 4, in your opinion, are we required to pay school bus operator for the HBL period?
am not sure but if go by logic of paying 12 mths or prorate the holiday month to school day month..think likely need to pay? unless bus operators can get rebates from govt then got chance to ask them pass over the savings?

Hope the bill tomorrow don’t give blanket rights to all industrial property owners to defer rent. While biz may be bad for tenants, what about property owners who still need to service loans? Unless If tenants can’t pay rental, owners can also defer on loan and interest payment...

I think only fair if just passing savings from prop tax etc to tenants..

Yes, it is fair for owners to pass property tax savings to tenants. But seems like they are suggesting that tenants can ask for monthly rental to be deferred for say up to a year? Hopefully there must be some criteria to assess if tenants really cannot afford to pay the rent before such requests can be made. Else imagine the fix the owners are in.. on one hand, no rental but on the other hand still need to service bank loan.

Pap ward also got Cori brand if that comfort your friend a bit.

Just collected our masks and they are Cori sponge ones. Are they lasting? They seem rather fragile to me. And are they hotter to wear than cloth ones? I think I'll make some cotton ones for ourselves anyway since we'll need at least 2 each.

I saw a CORI mask sample at Unity previously.
The sponge material felt weird and thin. I did not buy.

Some say the ear loops break easily after a few washes. If I were you, I would rather use my own surgical masks or look for other alternatives or DIY

IMHO, BCI is the best. 3ply with filtration and fluid resistant. According to my Dr friend it’s as effective as a surgical mask.

              https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/preschool-operators-to-offset-50-percent-school-fees-covid-19-12614622

COVID-19: All pre-school operators to provide 50% off school fees for one month for Singaporean children

Includes student care centres (SCC).. \"With further Government support given under the latest Solidarity Budget, as well as MSF’s and ECDA’s (Early Childhood Development Agency) continued payment of pre-school and student care fee subsidies, with the automatic waiver of minimum attendance for eligibility for subsidies, all pre-schools, KCare, SCC and SSCC operators and EI service providers should offer fee offsets for the circuit breaker period.”

How much reserve do we have to keep this going? Really hope that we can get over this by end Apr

If our cases drop by then, people start moving around, will the virus come back again?
and the 2 dorms have 19.8k workers 😓

MOM lah, too lax with these Dorms operators. These dormitories are already known to be very vulnerable area, just like army barracks.

My friend’s hubby being roped in to prepare a 400 beds medical facility in Singapore Expo now.

DH said dorm cases not hard to solve, already isolated the foreign workers and work stoppage for the non-essential services so the general community should be safe. Either we swab all the 20K of them to identify the virus carriers or try the BCG vaccination on them (apparently could guard against Covid-19). Given the FWs’ age profile, most of them should experience only mild symptoms except those with hypertension.

Between a Singaporean and a FW who needs a respirator, you think our hospitals will save who first? I do feel sad for the FWs.

I would have imagined who check into hospital and in need of the last piece..can just unplug from a person who is still using it to give to another ?
Can. That is what it is happening now in US, Italy and Spain.

In SG, most probably form an medical ethics committee by MOH to decide who to save if we do not have enough respirators/ventilators.

Now the Dorm clusters are just like Princess Diamond cruise ship, a disaster waiting to happen. All the FWs in isolation will be cramped inside the gazetted dorm and each of them only has an average of 4sqm living space!

Better to quickly disperse the 20,000 of them to Changi Airport terminal 2 for isolation, just spread them out for actual social distancing. BMT just got postponed, right, so use the barracks to hold these FWs lah. How about old schools, SERS flats waiting to be demolished etc. Just let these FWs stay in these different areas to prevent a repeat of the Princess Diamond disaster.

MOH should quickly advise on the best mode of isolation for these FWs so why they soooo quiet?!

I believe the fact that many countries implemented lockdowns ard the world are cooperative work with WHO. It’s heart-warming to hear the Queen of England & Prince Charles e gorging their ppl to exercise care & social distancing in this unusual times nvr seen before. I do hope whilst China resume economic activities, I do hope countries current closed borders continue to add strength to worldwide containment.

A month may not be sufficient as numbers are unabated in the US, Spain, Italy & UK, tho China & SKorea seemed to hv declining incidence.

Every country hv their lockdowns & every country making every effort to execute social distancing & curb their ppl fr spread. Nobody knows how long this battle will lasts. Hopefully all efforts are well coordinated in the maze of complex climate zones & available natural UV against this humanity destructive virus. Hopefully, mankind survives with a vaccine in sight.

We’re very fortunate to hv reserves to support bziness, individuals who lost their jobs, families with increase expenses to handle family health needs, to supplement bz payouts to scaffold bz fr retrenchimg jobs to sustain & retain workforce to ready themselves when the skies are cleared. Extremely thankful indeed our experienced govt did not bulk at pressure to dip into our national reserves previously & know when our nation really need the coffee to save lives, save bz, save families, save jobs...

M’time, this gives us lots of time to reflect, to work cohesively putting aside race, religion, gender or nationality differences. Give thots to those amongst us who are needy, weak in immunity, the vulnerable elderly and extend our help. Gives us time to realize how fragile life can be & all wealth cannot shield us fr being easily wiped out as seen fr wealthy Indonesians trying to seek expensive private medical care in SG hospitals. Everything else is not impt, but the basic human spirit to connect with each other together in strength to fight the COVID enemy. Life can be stay-home, basic, sharing meals & time together not worrying abt chasing corporate ladder or property & worry abt investments.

Appreciate those in the frontline who not just work on jobs as a living but took risks & sacrifices to keep public security intact, nurse those affected, working round the clock for testing kits, vaccines, etc and also appreciate the health of our family & set aside more time during this circuit breaker period to bond with our young & elderly with more TLCs & love.
