Now confirmed strictly no face-to-face tuition. If tutor and parent still pretend not knowing anything, I wonder who will be the one facing the law? Tutor or parents?

A few of friends’ children tutors still keeping quiet about it and lessons are scheduled over the next few days. I am not sure what makes these people still think it is ok. My goodness!
      Probably both?

So far, it seems like the 20,000 FWs will continue to stay put inside the gazetted isolated Dorms. Hope the task force can act on the matter fast!

Don’t think the 400-bed isolation facilities at Expo is meant for the FWs. MOH said in ST that it’s for those who are recovering from Covid-19 or with mild symptoms, will move over from hospitals to free up the hospital beds. 400 beds also not enough for the 20,000 FWs to space them out although I heard the project to convert Halls 3 and 4 just put up for tender. By the time they are ready, I think the 14 days crucial period could be over already. Don’t forget we still have few new Dorm clusters popping up.

It is just an isolation facility so there’s no need for so many nurses there but do need someone like police to guard the FWs.

          lee_yl,

Ya. I’m concern not enuf to space FW out. So pitiful to hv no where to run to & afraid the next FW is infected or might spread to them. They’re still a human life, doing work that S’poreans will not labor at & each hv families back in their hometown.

Realized our small redot SG still need to convert more space for quarantine & isolation. Looks like might need to extend LOAs of foreign workers if the FW clusters or cases increases. Still need a solution to space then out. I see a lot of undeveloped land & wonder is temporary tents (shelter sun & rain) can be erected as NY did when they ran out of space.

Skeletal onsite medical resources still needed but security definitely must be in place. You don’t know what reaction once these workers fear for life & want to exert themselves for freedom or sth. It is good we see them putting in 2-3 big police cars with police servelliance 24/7

So what do you think will happen when the FWs in isolation start to see more and more of their friends inside the gazetted isolated Dorm get sick?

When they have nowhere to run and worried sick that the virus may spread to them, the 20,000 workers will try to escape at some point (something like the Little India riot). I am not saying this will happen but we never know.

Either the few policemen inside kena stampeded to death or one of the policemen pull out a gun and fire at the FWs in self defense. Then we will be on the world headlines.

I m not that clean..I seldom use the spray as usually just family members at home... kids lunchbags/bags thrown on floor in school while waiting for me, reached home sometimes can just go elsewhere before hanging it up..school uniforms too as they sit on floor..no eye see la just hope/think school is 'safest' anyway they are in school already close contact with the rest..but at home, the lift buttons, door handles I m very scared de maybe due to non locals 😓 but I shouldn't think like that la as some of our local young ppl also same..see how they response from today's news..say something like ok to get, have confidence with our doctors..omg..one more person taken up the bed deprived the more needy one mah..really shake head..also read even recovered may have some permanent damage on lung..hope this people could understand.

actually u raised a very good question

                    because

                    under special unique circumstances,

if a child is having learning difficulty and
even during normal days where there is NO virus out-break, children like them usually do NOT attend normal regular tuition class, because they need individual attention. All these big group tuition, no use to them.

Instead, during Peace time [Non-covid period]
they often hire special needs' trained tutor to go to their house, or their parents bring them to tutor's house, for private tuition one to one. This part, the blanket-sweep-law should allow empathy, because for these parents struggling, whether in peace time or covid-time, their special need child still need 1 to 1 private tutor

can read this article, how during these tiring, stressful covid period,
there are many parents in Hongkong, who are struggling with special need children.

May I ask if students of Pri and Sec schools using ZOOM for their Home Based Learning?
Zoom isn't officially used by MOE apparently, but in my experience it is the MOST user-friendly and foolproof option! Easy for parents and students. Allows for annotation directly onto the shared screen -- the teacher and the students can annotate, everyone can see each other in real-time... I like it! But they have had some safety issues which is why they've just had an update to include a mandatory password in order to enter meetings (so no unsolicited entrances). I'm using Zoom for my classes! So far, so good. Kids can be seen on video and can give non-verbal responses (raising hands, giving thumbs-up) -- there are also non-verbal response buttons they can click to virtually \"raise a hand\" to ask a question or give a tick / cross to answer. Having kids on the screen also helps to check on responses in real time -- every teacher knows faces of confusion vs faces of understanding hehe!

My friends are recommending Google Classroom ... have yet to test that out but I'm happy with Zoom!

(Sample of what a zoom lesson looks like: https://www.instagram.com/p/B-r68JOHiyG/ )

I would recommend parents to position their kids this way:
                      https://postimg.cc/QKsBRD0J

\"A\" is best for young learners -- if the teacher is able to see their pencil on the paper, they can double check on whether they're on the right page for printed materials etc!

If the child can't be seen on the screen, hard for the teacher to interact with them!

Great tips. I love Zoom too.

Kid’s school will be using Google Meet for some HBL lessons soon (they conducted a training session for the kids on Monday). Not sure if the meeting link will be accessible thru SLS or will they login via a separate browser. Will post a review.
