We use this CB period for kids to plan & do up meals. I don’t want to see them glued to HBL on screen in replacement of physical interaction. So, we do meals together just to draw them away fr the screen (laptop, hp & TV screens). Trying to rope in DH to learn some recipes but he has yet to start with excuses of WFH even busier than at office.

      Some typical lunches :
      1. Mee Sua with spinach, minced pork, fried taugua, fried Ikan bilis
      2. Jap green noodles with chives dumplings, eggs, seaweed & Jap shrimps
      3. Fried rice
      4. Fried beenhoon
      5. Hongkong noodles with shrimps dumplings & caixin
      6. Spaghetti Bolognese or Carbonara

Now stock up more baking ingredients for tarts, cheesecakes mochi or just muffins. After this CB, I’ll hv less worries if ever I can’t cook for them.

      Dinners are cooked 三/四 菜一汤.
coz I will feel stressful cannot finish the food..

yup dd1 been bugging me say wants to make cakes & buns. I let her do it few days ago..I told her wait la..coz I time to unwind so that I could focus on my assignment/work. At this age, they could do a lot of things on their own but cleaning up ahem...still need lots of improvement lor.

I wished DH had been religious in swimming. The other day for a scare coz he stoop to help pick my plant & suddenly screamed in pain. Thot he had to go to his orthopedic doc. Then made a remark he shld constantly swim when he had the chance. Now CB mood.

He’s got slip disc L4/L5 a few years back. Swimming is the least damaging activity & helps strengthen back muscles. Other exercises can snap the alr weakened disc

yeah..hbl means sleeping, meal time all upside down..actually during school days their meal time also like like..most days home at about 4pm, washed up and meal usually at 4+.. usually 1 meal and snacking all the way to bed time. at least school days, breakfast, recess, food after school hour kinda fixed.

Weekends, sometimes I do feel like preparing food like buffet style..cooked and leave food in thermal pots for warming..
I guess every family has its own way of managing. My husband and I believe in routines, and we have always imposed that in our home. Both kids have picked this up too. Even when we are all at home, we observe regular meal times and work/off times. There were some years when my kids were doing school at home overseas, and we set up routines and timetables then; this period seems just like a repeat for us.

Funz, can bring handsome boi out to do big/small business?
Can. Just a quick one outside my house.

1st few days he did not understand why we were not heading to our normal walking route, will pull on the leash away from the direction home. Now he knows, will automatically head home the moment he is done.

It is a bit of a challenge for us as well, for all to keep to the same schedule. DS is on HBL but school have them still keeping pretty much to their usual timetable. So there will be days when his HBL ends at 12+ other days 2+. DH is on business call with his staff and business associates all over the world so that is another challenge. DD is still waiting for term to start so she is flexible. For me, my schedule has always been flexible so I will just try to accommodate DS and DH’s schedule.
