Quite often, the last banana ends up in the freezer - then I have to make banana muffins or banana pancakes.

Talking about non pre-washed potatoes, I bought a packet of potatoes at ntuc last Sun. On Thur, some already budding 😞
Potatoes hv to be store away fr bright light. Those that starts budding shld not be consumed. I use them for composting or growing 2nd generation.

Singapore’s temperate weather is different & even cabbage or wongbok will turn yellow or white. Besides potatoes/sweet potatoes, carrots, radishes, cucumbers, I always buy 2-4 pumpkins to store for soup or stirfrys. We must hvbour daily greens. Hope this CB will not hv cause for run on greens.

haha yeah bananas are great, too ripe can keep for baking..during this CB period, can do/learn more things. My sis started making buns with more \"success\". I passed her a recipe with lower chance of failure .. thereafter she becomes so much more creative with the shape and fillings ... CB period is time to do something new/spend time with family/relax etc... but for the bz owners must be a more worrying period though.. hope after this period of rest, all of us become more productive to make up 😄

I noticed in ntuc, the potatoes are moist which made me suspect that they start budding easily. I put them in the kitchen cabinet.

I hope the limited resources allocated to local community are not compromised.

Take them out of their bags. Put in a basket lined with newspaper or kitchen towels. That should help. Either that or just dump them in the veg drawer in the fridge. 😉

Why can’t gov comm be set at a standard time ?

The go sg wats app msg come in any time of the day to update number of cases .
Not systematic at all . I m ok with ad hoc notices but numbers shd be set at a time daily eg 6pm or 8 pm la . Sometimes Rec msg in afternoon , night , mid night - like that not world class standard le.

good to see local cases drop
                      加油大家 we done our part!

                      [Sent by Gov.sg - 18 Apr]

As of 12pm, MOH has preliminarily confirmed an additional 942 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.

Majority are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

The number of local cases has continued to decline, with 14 Singaporeans/PRs among the cases today.

MOH will share further updates in its press release that will be issued later tonight.

not placed under direct sunlight of course. Loose US russet potatoes, Holland potatoes from Cold storage are so far ok in one corner of my kitchen. China cabbage and China wongbok in chiller are also ok. But Japanese wongbok bought from Isetan wasn't lasting in my chiller. Outer layers turned yellow fast.

I do not cook pumpkin, taro and sweet potatoes, but they too can last for a long time.
I don't like Watties or canned veggies, but I've some frozen baby carrots.

I quite fancy preserved cucumbers, gherkins, mala bamboo shoots & mala mushrooms, fermented tofu, fermented black beans, HK mei cai, TW cai xin in jars to eat with Teochew muay. Some Japanese tsukemono (pickles) too but they don't last though I store them in the vacuum compartment of my fridge.

As long as there's no lockdown, we can still get some fresh greens from the provision shop.
