I noticed in ntuc, the potatoes are moist which made me suspect that they start budding easily. I put them in the kitchen cabinet.

Take them out of their bags. Put in a basket lined with newspaper or kitchen towels. That should help. Either that or just dump them in the veg drawer in the fridge.

I put them all in the fridge. Outside is too warm and humid, and I don't have space to spread them out in lined baskets etc.

With 6000 over cases, aiya! I say forget about this laborious contact tracing. Those European countries didn't even bother doing contact tracing when they only had low thousands. MOH staff will go bonkers linking up cases. Local media also gave up creating relationship trees and charts liao.

I think Bangladashis take only 1 BCG jab after birth within 12 mths. (Our SC infants take booster within 18 mths irrc.) No booster jab given later in puberty. Bangladesh has 84 deaths currently. Not too bad considering sanitation is poor and healthcare system is not robust.

I saw on TV SAF MOs are manning the dorm medical posts. But only those who feel sick will approach the MOs for checking.

That’s why European countries infection and death rates are so high? Because they can’t be bothered to do contact tracing and isolate those who could be infected, end up they just let the virus pass it on.

Our media can continue with their graphics and relationship chart for local cases, leaving out the FWs, as the numbers are still manageable.

If I were to tell you Mustafa has been identified as a cluster with more than 50 potential covid-19 carriers working inside, do you still dare to step in?

So are we ready to continue with contact tracing and then isolation OR just give up contact tracing and wait for numbers to grow even faster? At some point, it will be either more drastic lockdown measures for prolonged period or have our healthcare system buckle under the stress.

The best thing to do is to stay put at home and don't move around too much when the authorities are doing aggressive contact-tracing and testing.


If SAF, CID and MOH are still manually calling each and every one of them, making them recall their footprint over the past 2 weeks, I do not know how they can eventually cope if the nos continue to skyrocket. Not to mention they have to deal with language barrier, patients' fatigue & poor memory and unfamiliarity of Singapore venues to give precise locations, etc. Some could have just sat casually with or beside FDWs on open field near MRT stations or shopping centres, but they may not know the FDWs that well. Lots of CCTV footages to view.

If the contact tracers are swarmed, they can enlist the support of the public by releasing intimate details of confirmed cases' movement over a period of time on apps or websites. That means the public must check the online map and travel logs to see if they had ever come into contact with those individuals. If yes, they step forward to be screened, or their friend/family could alert them if they'd been to that same spot, e.g. MRT station toilet, at that same hour. South Korea did that but received much criticism from their human rights groups though.

Taiwan did that twice, I recall. First - when they released all retail malls and tourist attractions (incl. time and duration) that thousands of passengers from Diamond Princess had visited in Northern Taiwan on 31 Jan, after disembarking at Keelung cruise port.

Second - when they released some very detailed CCTV records of where and when one illegal Indonesian hospice helper had visited over a 2-week period. The onus was then placed on members of the public to check their own schedule and tap on own memory to recall if they had come into contact with that Indon helper. If yes, they should 自行管理 health conditions or step fwd to be screened.

But from what I hv gathered so far from our local authorities, our MWs' movements seem to be easily traceable as they all go to the same fixed worksite and dorm daily. They only need to recall where they had gone to on 2 Sundays, which clinics they had visited. But Mustafa is merely the common thread that connects the South Asian cases. Remember in the Annex, there are also a few infected China MWs and Myanmar MWs, and these guys usually go to Geylang/Jurong and Peninsula/Fort Canning respectively.

I'm now just worried about essential workers like those doing residential vector control and healthcare workers who will continue to come into contact with locals. NTUC Online hires some PRC deliverymen too, so need to watch out when you receive your goods at the door.

Local Cases

I think MOH should learn from Korea and release intimate details of unlinked local cases' movement to the public to tap their recall. Our authorities seem to want the rest of us to leave all the behind-the-scene tracing to them by omitting movement details from the daily media releases. Earlier in Jan-Mar, at least we got to know which malls or which market, those cases had been to.

Now, such details are totally unknown to the media and the public. There are still many restless and bored Singaporeans walking around, jogging, cycling, taking joyrides and window-shopping in supermarkets blindly in the community. You might have just come into contact with a dollar note handed to you by a confirmed case at a food court.

Had a quick glance at Worldometer to see where SG stands right now. Interestingly, two other very busy regional Aviation Hubs, UAE (Emirates) and Qatar (Qatar Airways), are also in the same dire situation as SG - 5,000 - 6,000+.


For those who had been to the Gulf states, you'd hv noticed millions of migrant workers from South Indian countries walking around everywhere on weekends too. This is becos both UAE and Qatar (and RSA too) have several large-scale, never-ending construction going on all year round like Singapore, which depends heavily on foreign labour. Their local Arabs do not work in blue-collar jobs just like SCs. They also do not work in frontline service sectors, which are dominated by the Filipino and PRC workforce. Their MW dorms look the same as those in SG too - equally packed like sardines.

Was at VivoCity @ NTUC to complete grocery for both MIL & my family before delivery. We noticed VivoCity @ NTUC do not control numbers going into supermkt there & it’s very crowded even as the loudspeaker announces for 1 meter distancing when queuing for pymt, I’m like having so many shoppers on my left & right. :faint:


Where do we complain? Shld I email in to NTUC to implement crowd control at VivoCity @ NTUC?

I went to a smaller Phoon Huat..have control at entrance. The smaller 24hrs ntuc I went to, I didn't manage to see any control as the few times I went were after 10pm so customers inside manageable. I went to CS during normal hours, no control coz that usually dont have many customers.

I have urge to go to SS few times even t
when I already got ready to sleep at 3am this morning..coz I would like to get stuffs I cant get at my side.. but I gave up coz worry all the way there to only see many sections not stock up yet..I know usually the outlet will be very crowded de.

I wonder when do the 24hrs SS do stocking up?
