Dessert & bubble tea stores taken off list of essential services

      Bad news, bubble tea fans.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) has updated the list of essential food and beverage outlets after the Multi-Ministry Taskforce press conference on Apr. 21.

A number of food manufacturers and food outlets, mostly snack and dessert-based, will no longer be considered essential services.

Do you have the list of essential F&B ? Thanks

From what i understand, breadtalk, starbucks and coffee bean remain open.

It seems that bread is OK, but cakes are not. So places that sell predominantly bread can stay open, but once their existing stock of cakes are sold, they aren't supposed to bake more cakes.

Starbucks etc can only open their outlets that sell \"meals\". Those that only sell drinks and snacks must close.

The supermarkets must be busy this afternoon! I just got back from a SS and it was busier than I've seen for a weekday afternoon. It was almost as busy as a weekday morning used to be. Some shelves had gaps too, and the staff were busy restocking them. According to the cashier, it's been busy since this morning - I guess it's the usual knee-jerk reaction to an official announcement. Hope it goes back to normal by the time I need to go again next week.

i am not v good to hold for one week, i m like going to get grocery every 3 days - vegs, tidbit, dry products etc
sigh , but i go off peak or night

my dh on salad for some meals, cant buy lots of brocolli, avocado to keep long, need to replenish very 3ish days, else veg not fresh too

I can't manage for a whole week either, mainly because of bananas! I shop about every 5 days. So far, mid-afternoon has been fairly OK, but today took me by surprise.

My sister was isolated in SGH for 2 days in February for suspected covid-19. The nurse there advised her not to eat raw vegetables as the virus can only die above 72 degrees Celcius.

Since you are going to boil the veggies, can consider stocking up on frozen broccoli, frozen corn kernels. Cold storage may even have frozen cubed avocado, frozen mango chunks, frozen strawberries/blueberries/raspberries.

I know they definitely have frozen baby spinach (freezed as cubes).
