For my DS, it was scheduled to have supplementary lessons for 2 weeks in June.
      Now it is cancelled...
      hi calvinchua,

don't let circumstances stop u, from having supplementary lessons.

      Eg.

Even if your school had cancelled the Supp lesson,
counter-propose (suggest) to your child primary school's Maths Teacher, please continue to conduct online Supp lessons, using either interactive Zoom technology or Google classroom.
Your child can still stay at home, benefit these online Supp lesson.

Before your child enter the online Supp class, get him (her) to prepare a list of questions before hand first, to clarify with Tr on the spot. ie. get the maximum benefit learning, out of this online Supp lesson.

      Alternately, one solution out is

      - from your child's own P6 class, from your class parents whatsapp chat group, find out who are those students who are keen to attend Supp class, gather names of those P6 students, then inform your class subject Tr, said u have gathered x number of students very keen to conduct the online Supp class. Then u (parent) go into Zoom, create a host-id, tell teacher which day/ what time slot, these group of x students are waiting excitedly for the online Supp lesson, to proceed. In other words, be pro-active. On your own initiative, dont let physical circumtances bar u, from what u want your child to learn. We know that covid-19 is giving us a difficult time. But let's be brave, persevere on. Let us press on, together

Excellent suggestion. Teachers are so kind and they also mentioned the same to my son to contact them for any doubts. Hopefully we will overcome this tough situation!! 🙂

            Yes,

make use of Technology (a tool) available, to help you cross (hop) over or "jump" across, to the other side of the mountain

Afraid of your child not doing well in PSLE maths?

Scared of your child falling behind due to Corona disrupting school and tuitions?
Do you dread spending money on expensive assessment books?
Can't bear the heavy schoolbags that your child has to carry around with all those heavy books?

Introducing Phi (http://phimath.herokuapp.com), the largest fully-online collection of real past-year PSLE math problems with detailed worked out solutions.

Phi prepares PSLE students to ace their maths exams. Visit the website to learn more and register. There are limited invites available! Website: http://phimath.herokuapp.com.

Hi, I'm Harshad, creator of Phi, along with my son Jay (graduate of Stanford University in California). I have been a longtime private maths tuition teacher in Singapore. Practice doesn't make perfect; practice with accurate feedback makes perfect. Otherwise, a child can keep making the same mistakes again and again. As parents, you pay a LOT of money on assessment books and past year papers for your children. However, these resources contain a small number of problems, with only a few worked solutions. Past year papers often have just the answers, and not the entire solution. How is your child going to learn from their mistake if they don't know how to arrive at an answer? My son, who completed his PSLE many years ago, also faced the same issues. And things haven't gotten better.

I realized this problem a couple years ago. It's not good; it's making our Singaporean children be afraid of mathematics. To solve this problem, I have prepared detailed worked solutions (with models) to more than a 1000 real past-year PSLE math problems, across 8 different topics and varied difficulty levels. Create an account on Phi for your child and watch them gain exposure to a LARGE variety of different problems, and for the first time, know exactly why they got the wrong answer to a problem. Watch as they learn from their mistakes a lot more quickly!

Remember, there are limited invites available! Visit http://phimath.herokuapp.com to learn more.

Did any of your kids’ schools release their plan for face-to-face supplementary lessons during the upcoming May holidays? Cos MOE said will allow schools to do this.[/quote]
The way I read it was it was only for those children who really need it. I think it is more aimed at those Secondary school students who will be taking mother tongue exams in June.

But Volume taught in P5 will still be tested.

O level oral has already been delayed by a few weeks.

My girl will not have any supplementary lesson nor live streaming HBL now. For her school, only those taking foundation subject have their daily google meet with the teacher. But I’m okay with that because I can guide and ‘grill’ her on her weakest topic 😂

I just realised I’ve been neglecting her studies (unlike her brother - maybe first son lah that’s why all attention on him) now with the circuit breaker, I hope to spend more time with her going through past year papers.

Any recommendations for joining online PSLE boot camps in May holidays? I am getting such messages from several tuition centres. I tried some free trials, but they were crappy. 300-400 students join and the chat box becomes spam box. I am wondering how the paid online classes are like?
