Today is International Women's Day and throughout this week I explored and recorded 3 early advanced pieces by 3 Japanese female composers that really should be known more.

                  Hi everyone,

I will conduct 3 online lectures on Youtube Live free of charge in the coming weeks. These lectures are actually part of a teacher training program I will be launching after the CB. It is geared towards acquiring DipABRSM Teaching certificate, but I'm keeping them accessible and easy to understand for parents/students who wish to have better ideas about learning music in general.

You could interact and ask questions using the Live Chat when the lectures were live. The lectures will still be available at the links afterwards if you wanted to review or missed it. The first one will be on this Friday night.

Teaching One to One - Approaches and Structures

The one to one lesson is the primary method of music instruction for most music teachers. In this lecture, you will learn to craft an engaging lesson that involves constant two-way interaction between you and your student. You will also learn to set learning goals and incorporate various components that make the lessons productive.

Hi all, I need advice. Dd (P3) has been playing piano for 3 years +. Took G1 and G3 under the same first teacher. Me and husband have no musical background, never learn. During process of G1-3, I learnt slowly with DD, I realised something is missing, her previous teacher did not cover in detail. She got distinctions for both barely

After I brought her after G3 exam round to look for a new teacher, I learnt the following: Her hand shape is very bad (fingers sticking out all over the place), flat fingers when playing scales, lack of phrasing. These are the feedback gathered after trials wit several Teachers. I was quite shocked at the realisation so many gaps in her learning. We ended up changing teacher.

Now with current teacher, yes some stuff has improved. But when playing if I don’t remind,I still see index finger and pinky poking out. I cannot tell properly but body is tense, I think Teacher is trying to change this. Now the current teacher want to go for G5 for 2021.

My question is: anyone can advice , can still take G5 with the foundation mistakes still there? I am just worried it will ingrained the bad habits.

Is it advisable to fix mistake first before thinking of proceeding to the next grade? I just want some informed views before I ask the teacher
