Any recommendations for joining online PSLE boot camps in May holidays? I am getting such messages from several tuition centres. I tried some free trials, but they were crappy. 300-400 students join and the chat box becomes spam box. I am wondering how the paid online classes are like?

I suggest you judge which tuition centre/tutor to pick based on their content + delivery.

The spamming problem will always be there, especially if it’s just a free trial or a short holiday boot camp. The tutor has zero rapport with total strangers & can’t manage them nor get them to stop spamming. Especially if the kids themselves didn’t sign up but parents forced them to join.

Just ask your child to close & ignore the chat box. Focus on the tutor’s screen and what he’s saying. Otherwise it will be money down the drain.

I have sampled many “live” online tutors (and online sessions with school teachers) by now. So far my experience is, smaller groups (fewer than 5 kids) are better, and stricter teachers are better. Otherwise, if big group or lax teacher with zero crowd control, you’re better off just finding a free video lecture and watching passively.

Or try to get extra lessons/tutoring/F2F supplementary lessons from the school teacher for any weaker subjects/components.

- Living Together
- Food Chains and Food Webs
- Adaptations
- Man’s Impact on his Environment

May I know which are the specific science topics or questions covered these broad topics?

These 4 Science topics mentioned are heavy going. If they are removed, will definitely lighten the PSLE preparation work, a lot. Relieved ! A big burden off.

agree , the adaptation , human n Environment related are not easy topics to answer - can be v wide n varied qns set for P6 kids

With these 4 heavy and tricky topics gone, this year Science paper content seems easier. Perhaps, many will score A* for Science this year.


SEAB will need to re-set their PSLE Science Paper, to remove testing these 4 topics, if indeed is true

I don’t think they need to re-set? Just create addendum instructions to tell the candidates to ignore certain questions because they will not be marked. And invigilators brief/remind them before starting also.

SEAB need to re-set the PSLE Science paper, because
after removed those questions related to 4 topics, from BOTH MCQ Section A and OE Section B section, they need to substitute the "removed" questions, by "new" questions

Eg if those qns were worth 10 marks, just minus 10 marks from everybody’s total = everybody will be on the same level again right?


This is possible under T score system cos everyone will be on a curve anyway.
