Very worried about this year's PSLE cohorts.
Already HBL is not that effective like classroom training, plus they missed lot of revisions which normally happens before SA1. These kids sit directly for Prelims and PSLE within 2 weeks.
agree, \"face-to-face\" classmore much more effective, than HBL.

      Luckily, from May 19,
critical-year-graduating students can wear face mask, go back to schools clarify with their Teachers on subject content, prepare for PSLE. So for those who are going back to school, please prepare before-hand, one whole list of questions u don't quite understand, need to clarify, get ready to bullet-ask your Tr on the spot, when u meet him (her) face-to-face, on May 19. Don't waste this precious time and opportunity

my pri kid said she still learn well - maybe the last few topics are dropped… before CB , percentage/ratio/ higher fraction/ circles cirum are completed, Geometry is part in CB , pei chart etc But pie chart drop now …
so past 1 week + was revision for Math, Sci had taught Env, Adap etc during CB ( before annoucement) so now Sci revert backto revision…
I find Lang (Chinese) quite a lot to learn! Eng skills too for paper 1 n 2
hopefully got time to catch up from 2June , sch opens( Covid situation must improve then we can go back to sch!

for O and A-level National exam, SEAB will modify the questions sent over from Cambridge, to suit our Singapore context. SEAB is still in full control, over what questions they want to set.

          eg

normally, SEAB will set harder questions, after what Cambridge sent them.
But this year, due to covid, if SEAB prefer to set easier O / A-level questions, also can.
Yah lor, our GCE O and A students v poor thing, hardest papers compared to other students
my msia coleag said they also have O n A level but i told her back our is Different la , so much more difficult , now her kids are in Spore ( PR tun sg) , her kids will \"suffer\" same fate like ours lor 😉 no need tp argue with us Msia standard is the same, if same why their kids also tuition like \"mad\" 😆

Yes, our SEAB Singapore-Cambridge GCE \"O\" and \"A\" level papers are much harder, than what Cambridge had initially set.

That's why there are several Malaysian students here in Singapore, who after having completed their \"O\" level, balik rumah, go back to their Malaysia hometown, take the Cambridge \"A\" level exam in Malaysia, because easier

For my DS, it was scheduled to have supplementary lessons for 2 weeks in June.
              Now it is cancelled...

              hi calvinchua,

don't let circumstances stop u, from having supplementary lessons.

              Eg.

Even if your school had cancelled the Supp lesson,
counter-propose (suggest) to your child primary school's Maths Teacher, please continue to conduct online Supp lessons, using either interactive Zoom technology or Google classroom.
Your child can still stay at home, benefit these online Supp lesson.

Before your child enter the online Supp class, get him (her) to prepare a list of questions before hand first, to clarify with Tr on the spot. ie. get the maximum benefit learning, out of this online Supp lesson.

              Alternately, one solution out is

              - from your child's own P6 class, from your class parents whatsapp chat group, find out who are those students who are keen to attend Supp class, gather names of those P6 students, then inform your class subject Tr, said u have gathered x number of students very keen to conduct the online Supp class. Then u (parent) go into Zoom, create a host-id, tell teacher which day/ what time slot, these group of x students are waiting excitedly for the online Supp lesson, to proceed. In other words, be pro-active. On your own initiative, dont let physical circumtances bar u, from what u want your child to learn. We know that covid-19 is giving us a difficult time. But let's be brave, persevere on. Let us press on, together

wow, this sounds like pressure for the teacher.. everything ready. just need to teach. hehe

Typically, teachers would cover the first 1 to 2 chapters of 6B textbook before Term 2 ends. However due to CB period, bringing forward of mid year sch holidays and most crucially, this year being the first batch using the new syllabus, we have no choice but to wait for the book to be published. (Without the changes caused by Covid-19, the estimated period in which the 6B textbook is published would be around mid to end May.)

There's no need to worry though. Make use of this opportunity to prepare for Oral (less than 100 days to go), Compo as well as consolidate understanding of Pri 4-6A syllabus text. 😉

                    xn_mummy,
Unfortunately, the Character List that's available is for the old syllabus (2007) [https://www.moe.gov.sg/education/syllabuses/mother-tongue-languages]

Do you have the Chinese Vocab handbooks for Pri 4 and 5? There's a index at the start of each book for quick reference/search. It looks something like this:

                        thank anyway
3 ways to go around, solving your problem

                        1)

Popular bookshop is now closed, under CB (Circuit breaker) until 1June 2020.
Not sure after 1 June, Popular bookstore will open

Write an email to Popular head-office,
ask if they can check their whare-house whether still got stock for 1 book.
If have, can they send this book to your house, by postage ?

can also call directly, but not sure anyone will pick up your call, because under CB now, all Non-essential service staff stay at home, under government order, dont spread covid-19

                        2)

If Popular bookshop replied \"Sorry, No stock\", after checked their wharehouse, then approach 2nd hand bookshop like Evernew (ground floor) at Bras Basah complex.

You can google for this shop telephone yourself,
Call them directly ask if they have stock for 1 book ?
If Yes, ask them to send you by postage, because all Non-essential services are under CB, their second hand bookshop is currently closed

you may approach any other 2nd hand bookshop, pose them the same question, since you need this book urgently, to prepare your son / daughter for PSLE, this year (2020) .

                        3)
do you have your child primary school's book-shop number ?

If have, call them up directly, ask if they have stock, can sell you this P4 book

Sometimes, your school book-shop may be another vendor, not necessarily come under vendor \"Popular\". Cast your fishing net wider surface area, ask as many bookshop vendor as possible, if they have stock of this critical, urgent book that u are looking for
