Yesterday, there were 10 unlinked local cases! Why still so many despite the CB?

Wonder if enrichment centres can open on 2 June. My girl’s ballet exam has been delayed if the CB. Haizz...
I am quite sure tuition enrichment classes won’t start in June. Remember they were stopped before school closed, so if school can start full time in June, earliest for enrichment would be in Jul I guess. Then again who knows what new measures need to be put in place at these centres to adhere to social distancing for e.g, so can big classes still continue...

to be honest, even if come July,

there will be parents who still prefer to stick to online academic tuition using interactive Zoom,
instead of getting their children exposed to the high risks of meeting asymtomatic tuition Teachers or tuition fellow classmates, inside the physical \"face-to-face\" classroom, particularly for students who are Not taking National exam this year. Also, no need to waste precious, valuable time, spent minimum 2 hours on the road (buses / MRT), travelling to tuition centre to and fro. 1 hour there, plus another 1 hour back home.

If not interactive online lessons, eg.
if lesson is play back from pre-recorded video, then no use go tuition centre.
Might as well just google find online and learn whatever you want to learn, yourself

But for Non-academic enrichment classes like violin, piano, dancing, ballet
these one need physical \"face-to-face\" interaction, for effective one-to-one teaching and correction of movement (dance steps) or adjustment posture or fingering of instrument strings correction (for violin, piano, harp or other music instrument etc), on the spot

I actually prefer online live classes. Save the trouble of travelling. I can listen in on her lesson. She cannot chit chat with friends and is more focused. Cons is must email completed worksheets to teacher but can live with that la…

I didn’t realize that the requirements for face coverings are either face shield or face masks.

Anyone has any thoughts on which is more comfortable?

In terms of protection, face shields protects the eyes? However, there is no air filter per se for shields.

Does this mean some asymptomatic persons are walking around and spreading the virus unknowingly?

If so, how did these persons get infected in the first place?

Tbh, I ‘m worried if commUnity cases hover around 10, still no good !
I think some Unlinked cases may be were infected before compulsory mask CB time , before 7 April - which they show mild or no symptoms n spread out unknowingly
Masks really help to keep droplets away
Plastic shield in some way should be effective too as it block the droplets Landing into our face , mouth , nostrils - covid is not exactly airborned , bigger droplets Make it dangerous to people whose faces are not protected

Realistically, without a total drastic lockdown for several weeks, like the FW dormitories, it's unlikely we can ever get to nil new cases. Even under the strictest CB, there were still about 17% of the workforce (I recall from reading somewhere, this may be inaccurate) moving around. After 5 May and 12 May, this will be an even higher no. But I think that as long as the no. of cases can be contained, Singapore can manage. Getting it under 10 would be better, of course. The FW cases are many, but because of the way they are being restricted, the nos. should be starting to fall soon.

As for your last para - this is probably a good time to wear specs! Mask plus specs should be almost as good as a face shield.

Yup, am mentally prepared. 😓

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/curbs-wont-all-be-lifted-after-june-1-says-minister
Life will not go back to normal immediately after June 1, when Singapore's Covid-19 circuit breaker period comes to an end, said National Development Minister Lawrence Wong during a virtual press conference yesterday.

While the Government will continue to monitor and assess the situation in the coming days and weeks as it decides what should be done after the circuit breaker, he stated categorically that there was no scenario where normalcy returns next month.

\"Whatever the decision, whatever happens in the coming days or weeks, it is clearly not going to be the case that after June 1 everything will be lifted, and we will go back to status quo ante.\"

Rather, Singapore will see a \"gradual, calibrated easing\", said Mr Wong.

\"The baseline protection will have to remain - things like safe distancing measures, the wearing of masks when you go out, or at work; all of these will remain post-June 1.

\"Beyond these baseline measures, the extent to which we can do more reopening of workplaces - that's something that we will have to consider.\"

Is it 10 unlinked local cases or 10 local (SG/PR) confirmed cases yesterday?

On the 1st day of tightened CB measures, on 22 April, 15 local cases were reported. As of yesterday, we are down to 10 cases. Actually how come in LESS THAN 2 weeks task force considered to ease the tightened CB rules? Our policies really flip flop too fast!

PM Lee announced on national TV that there was a “large hidden reservoir” in our community. How come the task force decided to ease the tightened CB rules in less than 2 weeks? So the large hidden reservoir “disappeared” after two weeks?
