Don't think they will remove affiliation because these are aided schools afterall.Orb\" post_id=\"1975598\" time=\"1589348239\" user_id=\"25015:
MOE have been very silent on the affiliation so far. I wonder if there is even any affiliation. :xedfingers:
if MOE intend to increase the percentage, to let other \"outside\" students join affliated Secondary schools, to beyond 20 %, then abolish affliation is not surprising -

I dunno why but I have a gut feeling that MOE will possibly announce a 2-point across-the-board affiliation discount, for all schools. That’s because MOE said the AL bands are similar to the O level grade bands. So some people are guessing that the O level affiliation points system of -2 points to the affiliated JCs, will be applied to the AL PSLE kids too. -

our new 2021 primary schools' affliation to follow that of Secondary schools' affliation
Eg
- All CHIJ, St Gabriel, Holy Innocent Catholic Sec schools, to have 2 points discount into affliated Catholic JC, or
- All Methodist Secondary schools (MGS, Paya Lebar MGS, Fairfield, Geylang), to have 2 points discount into Anglo-Chinese JC (ACJC), or
- All Presbyterian & Anglican Sec schools (Anglican High, Presbyterian High, Kuo Chuan Presbyterian High, St Margaret Girls, St Andrew) to have 2 bonus points into St Andrew Junior College (SAJC),
- All Chung Cheng High school students have 2 point affliation, into Nanyang Junior College, etc
then Yes, there is still affliation.
Not that affliation been removed.
Affliation, still stay.
Just that affliation now comes in a new style ( format ),
unlike the old past, very generous, where CHIJ schools can give
Eg.
(243 - 200), can give whopping 43 discount points, wah! very generous
Eg.
CHIJ Toa Payoh Sec, affliated Tscore : 200
Psle cut-off-point, for outside students keen to join IJ Toa Payoh : 243 -

If they do away with it, they will be subscribing to “grades above everything else”. -

will impact those students, born in 2009 onwards, if Moe standardize AL affliation points, across the board

The points / scores, however, may be tweaked. That said, some schools may choose not to follow MOE recommendations if they deemed fit. -

So my point, there is a balance.
I guess aided schools can choose to do away with affiliation if they would like, but that would be their choice and their decision, and it wont be something that MOE can make them do. -

Yes, they were registered for P1 from overseas and on leave of absence until P6 (we weren't sure if we might have to come back suddenly at any time). They did immersions 3 times in the course of their Pr school days which helped in their eventual return. My younger girl took PSLE as well, but chose another sec school, which she entered in Sec 2 when we returned. My older girl was 16 when we came back and joined Millennia Institute the following year. We helped them adjust, and both have done pretty well. This is not the place to go into detail though - I think I have shared more in the SPERS thread.
Thanks for sharing your story! Hows local and overseas studies interchanging for them? Do they find a problem to cope with the different systems? To get back into MGS after your overseas stint, your girls must have gotten in at P1 first right? -

seriously,
MOE have been very silent on the affiliation so far. I wonder if there is even any affiliation. :xedfingers:
if MOE going to standardize,
by getting all the affliated Secondary schools' Principal(s) involved or their missionary school management team & their board of directors committee approval, to agree unanimously to give maximum 2 discount points flat across, to all her affliated P6 students in next year AL Psle new roll-out points implemented system, so as to
follow exactly in the same identical manner (foot-steps) as their Secondary schools' discounted admission bonus points into their respective affliated A-level Junior Colleges,
then, doesn't matter anymore, during P1 registration -
whether you've entered / balloted successfully into (MGS or Paya Lebar MGS) primary, or
whether you've entered / balloted successfully into (St Margaret or CHIJ Toa Payoh) primary, or
whether you've entered / balloted successfully into (ACS or St Joseph ) Junior or
whether you've entered / balloted successfully into (Catholic High or Maris Stella High) Junior or
whether you've entered / balloted successfully into (SCGS or St Nick) primary, anymore.
