Once you are called up for medicine interview, you are considered a good student. There are certain personality traits they look for in a doctor and we won’t know the matrix of that.

Getting into YLL or LKC does not make one better than the others. Likewise getting into medicine does not make one less deserving than the perfect all rounders who are ousted. Everyone is a champion in their own rights.

Exactly, everyone would agree, anyone who is shortlisted for the interview is a top performing student.

My son has yet to receive his results, it is still application processing

Till now most results have been out. Those in medicine, dentistry, law and others have been notified.

I suggest your son to contact NUS via email or calling them. They will let him know.

My son put medicine as first choice and pharmacy as second choice. If he was rejected I’m sure they would have given him his second choice by now. Still no response. Reply should be by latest tomorrow right?

Is it possible to have 3rd n even 4th attempts to apply NUS n NTU medicine? Assuming previous 2 trials had interviews conducted?

You have 1 more chance to re-apply but must have a backup plan in place before trying. Usually those who go for a 2nd try will go for attachment or volunteering works in the healthcare organisation while waiting for the next academic year. These extra exposures will give them a good portfolio and better chance when re-applying.

For example my son's backup plan. If medicine fails this time, he will reapply again next year cos he is serving full-time NS. Fortunately he is in the Commando Unit and Medic is his vocation. This provides him a good portfolio for his next try. If still not successful he will opt for a Teaching Course at NTU to be a Teacher.

I believe reapplication can only be done through ABAS route which is extremely difficult. A good portfolio and outstanding achievement, as well as the fact that very few enter via this route, make it nearly impossible.
