2010 DSA(Direct School Admission)

vlim:
So for my ds cohort, there are abt 375 boys so if 300 go ri then the rest go other schools.. :?
Really? HCI has 4 classes for GEP. 4x30=120
then the rest all go HCI ar -
The rest refer to 75 boys...

-
What I thought I heard was :
RI total intake = 450 (HCI also 450)
50% for DSA = 225 (HCI also 225)
50% OF DSA = 113 is for GEPpers (not sure about HCI)
overall GEPpers from DSA + S1 Posting = 1/3 of the overall intake = 150
~~~~~~~~~~~
So for 375 boys,
If HCI has 120 ==> 270 GEP boys(RI+HCI), remaining 105 boys go to NUSH, DHS, ACSI. If average out, will be around 30+ for NUSH, DHS, ACSI.
Anyone can confirm??? -
I think Mrs Lim of RI did not say their intake per year is always 2/3 GEP. She did say UP TO 2/3 of the cohort - obviously it fluctuates from year to year depending on each cohort’s performance
What is very clear is that 50% of vacancies is done at DSA, out of which 50% is reserved for GEP (113) while the balance (112) are for academic and sports. How many % is done at DSA is also up to school discretion which as an independent school, RI could take 100% at DSA if it wishes to.
It is obviously some more GEP will come in during S1 posting. God knows how many.
It is pointless to debate the exact numbers of GEP / mainstream getting in at DSA. I know everyone is looking for self assurance that there is hope for their mainstream kid to enter RI via DSA. No point trying to pin point the exact numbers said - this kind of rough gauge is just an estimate - and there were 3 sessions of talk by principal during the day of the open house … and you all could see, she had no script and won’t be surprised the numbers mentioned may not be the exact same number mentioned at every session. It also depends how the audience asked the question … -
HI all
I would like to seek clarifications on NJC DSA process. Will the school shortlist applicants for the test ? if yes, when will the school notify those shortlisted? if no, ie all applicants will sit for the test, how come i wasn’t asked to pay the fees?
tks -
My friend privately asked the person in-charge during the RI open house, I heard the officer mentioned that the DSA in-take for Geppers is around 150 and the rest of 75 are for the Main stream incl all the other talents. He said that the interview is very important, there are quite a number of geppers students who have a very good grade (above 80%) but also being rejected by RI. -
Everyone will take the test. They don't shortlist first nor ask you for your documents first. Fees - you pay on the day of the test. Documents, usually they only ask for if the child is shortlisted after the test.HI all
