Kite Flying

25hourmaid:
Hi 25hourmaid ,ksi, and autumnbronze, specially for you as requested at the Playground last night .....
Tips about Marina Barrage :
1) be there early, the earlier you get there, the better your chance of reserving a spot at the very limited shaded area for your picnic.
2) there are 2 water coolers there, one on Level 1, and another on Level 3 at field area, so don't need to bring too many bottles of water.
3) There is an aircon gallery at Level 2. The kids were using that place as a hideout from the scotching sun every now and then, good idea
4) Parking at the public car park is free for the time being, not sure how long this would last.
Enjoy ....

I have seen some shops in United sq with kites...
HAve some experience making kites so long ago (played 2nd fiddle to brother) but not sure if they would take off now.

Wow....Maid....I am still so impressed with your kite adventure.. I spoke to my child about it and she said to bring an instant tent so she can fly her kite from inside the tent...... I might just do that but not for her to fly the kite from inside but at least to picnic from inside if we fail to \"chope\" a well shaded place.
The tent is a good idea in case you are unable to get a shaded spot, but, the big BUT here is that it can be extremely stuffy inside the tent. Been there, done that, not for the scotching sun, but for camping though.ksi:
Yes, the opera kite was really nice and it caught my attention instanty, but it's quite big and I doubt an amatuer can handle that. It was flown by an elderly man and at any one time, the opera was always in the sky, which I think it takes some skills to maintain.Yes I like the opera kite too, wonder where to get??
ksi:
Thanks, got my stingray lookalike kite from a neigbhourhood shop called Frist Price near my place. Cost me only $3.90 for that. Check it out if you have one near your place. When I get my kite I post the pix for you first.
I saw the black kite with the tail too, looks cool.ksi:
Order from me, wait okay, I ask Madam for permission first, okay? :lol:Aiyoo can't wait to get there...
Oh if no time to prepare picnic food, can order from you? Kekeke -

It's my pleasure to share those photos and tips, but I think you have to thank ksi and autumnbronze for I doubt I would post any photos if not for their request, though I did think of sharing some tips initially after the trip since I knew that ksi is planning on a trip there.
Haha, if this Maid No 1 can prepare those food, why not Maid No 2 over there? :lol:Sun_2010:
Believe ksi has already given you the link to the numerous SKP outlets in her previous reply. Now to get hold of the kites.
What is SKP ? where is it ?
I have seen some shops in United sq with kites...
But if location is anything to go by, chances are the prices of the neighourhood shops would be cheaper than those from SKP, followed by those from United Square.Sun_2010:
I know what you mean. Used to make those kites as a young girl too.HAve some experience making kites so long ago (played 2nd fiddle to brother) but not sure if they would take off now.
And again thanks

ksi, a thought just came to my mind. Why don't you team up with autumnbronze and organise a kite flying cum picnic session together at Marina Barrage since both of you were so tempted by the photos that I put up?

We can but autumnbronze enjoys her shroud of anonymity here so she may wish to preserve that.
Alternatively, we can arrange a day here for most of us to be there and we guess....whose who??? And if you are going again...I will look out for your \"Maidtalk\" bread and the NDP packaging for your picnic!!!! :celebrate: -
