Thanks for all the info! Looks like it will be rather miserable for overseas freshmen this year as they will have less opportunities to make new friends and be stuck for longer periods in their hostels.
On that basis we will decline our UK offers and stay in SG. -

Ahhh what a pity! But definitely understand the situation ahead and for the greater good. May I ask what university for meds in SG that your child has accepted?

Hello Apple12245
She is accepting YLL and turning down LKC. -
I cannot understand why any parent would want to send their child overseas this year. Health risk, safety risk (recession, many people are jobless, more robberies, more pickpockets), discrimination, risk of no job after return 6 years later, spend $500k of savings, old hospitals, old facilities, old technologies etc
Noone knows when lectures proper can start… unprecedented times…
All for the seek of ‘prestigious universities’, more exposure … I cannot convince myself to send my son there… giving up UK Univ places…
Unless child cannot get a place locally and insisted that medicine is the only way to his dream career. -
may get any choice advice between YLL offer (without scholarship) and MAS scholarship? Thanks a lot !

YLL and MAS scholarship are the same but must weigh what’s more close to your child’s heart and ability
-
MAS Fintech!

Hi! Susme,
may get any choice advice between YLL and MAS scholarship? Thanks a lot !
Congratulations!
YLL and MAS (PSC) Scholarships are two different awards given under their conditions for you to pursue a specific course of your preference. Have you gone through the terms and conditions of the offering? Read them carefully.
NUS scholarship is given to freshmen for pursuing medicine at YLLSoM and \"is not bond free.\"
Whereas MAS scholarship is awarded by Public Service Commission. You will be required to work for MAS for six years if you study overseas and four years if you study locally. You are free to take up any course of study at any reputable university, with the exception of Medicine, Dentistry and Architecture. It is not intended for medicine study. -

choice between YLL offer (without scholarship) and MAS scholarship.
I am not familiar with MAS matters/career development, so try to get some advices here.
Thanks alot! -
NTU is magnanimous. While awaiting for the Medicine waitlist outcome, they have welcomed my son to take up Biological Sciences & BioBusiness and has offered him a Nanyang Scholarship too. I thanks NTU for their nobility and generosity. It’s indeed a great privilege to study at this wonderful university.
