Anyone who have tried online tuition? Is it effective? How is it being carried out? Can it be done in group?

I like to share with all parents about my recent bad experience with Stalford Learning Centre. I have sent my daughter for the secondary 4 enrichment classes. Due to CB, the tuition has to pivot to online but they are absolutely incompetent and the management is so incapable to equip with staff to problem solving. Till today, we have 3 times of access issues and each times, we have to repeatedly follow up and follow up before we have a resolution and that’s when the class is already in session. Again and again, only an apology in text and there is no idea of the root of the issue. Given the mistakes made several times and that include today, I have asked for some discount and the answer given is they do not adjust fees given that it doesn’t happen frequently. I am not sure what’s the definition of frequent. Maybe it needs to happen weekly before they will take it seriously. What’s most upsetting is the management attitude and the way they handle problems and parents who pay them the fees.

If you are looking for any enrichment centre, I strongly discourage parents to consider this tuition centre for your kids.as they are only interested in making money and not student learning.

Thanks for sharing with us your experience with this Tuition. This is quite sad since they don't handle well their issues and we parents are trying our best to pay for them expecting we can get good service from them, in return. What subjects are they teaching by the way?

Thank you so much sandy cheung for sharing your experience with that tuition. It really helps especially for someone like me considering on getting one for my daughter. Budget is quite tough so getting a tuition with bad service is such a waste.

Thank you also chegoho55 for sharing your good experience. I appreciate the idea of joining free classes first before deciding to fully sign-up. Didn’t know there are tuition offering like that.

Your thoughts are really helpful. Thank you for taking time to comment.

not all tuition offer free trial class before actually signing up, at zero cost… but can be able to help find one for a Sec and JC, I can send you PM for the details.

Ya practising what the learning lab used to do?

But this center is worst they forced you to attend Cci 12 hours lessons $547 B4 letting u attend the regular class. But this 12 hours classes spread across 4 days in 1 week so we cannot fetch the kid as it is during day time not even evening session

Because I cannot attend Cci they want me to purchase $247 A4 papers materials otherwise they do not let me reserve a slot for my kid in New term. Fine! I pay but now they demand for this trial class. I don't understand the logic it's not even entry test its based on that teacher personal assessment of my kid.
Hi Celyw, I was trying to find reviews on Pique lab's PSLE refresher 1-day workshop and chanced upon your post. To share a bit about what I know about Pique Lab, they are a good Science Enrichment/Tuition Centre, very structured, in fact too structured for my DS, who is considered good in Science. He has never attended regular Sci tuition. In P4, he started showing some issues with answering techniques, so i signed him up for Pique Lab's CCI workshop in P4 and subsequently in P5 as results show. I found their notes very attractive and easy to read esp. for revision. It is also a rather intensive workshop that covers from concepts to application with quite a fair bit of past year's questions curated out for the kids to work on. I recall it's 3hr/day for 3 or 4 days? I would say it may not be suitable for a child who is below average, as the content could be overwhelming to squeeze the whole year into a 3-4 day workshop. But I take it as a very good form of revision for DS as his way of \"studying\" is just flipping through his school sci notes and done in 10mins, so this is a good recap for him. I also like their answering technique as it is easy to follow, somewhat like a template. I think from Pique Lab's perspective, if a child goes through their CCI, they would have sufficient content knowledge to be able to follow their regular lessons, and they also want their lessons to be effective.

This year, I didnt sign up for P6 CCI as their staff honestly told me no point as it's the same as P5, just 1 new topic. So I let him do a trial lesson for the regular tuition instead, as I was just curious how their regular lesson differs from CCI. He came out looking listless and said he was very bored during the lesson and said it was too structured and repetitive for him. I'm also thinking it could be too in-depth as compared to CCI's touch-and-go style. I looked at the materials for that 1 lesson and honestly was surprised its quite a thick stack for just 1 lesson. Then I know why DS doesnt like it. 😂 So the trial is also good for students to see if they like the style, rather than paying upfront 1 whole term and end up they do not like it.

                      Hi Faithj

Thanks for sharing your experience. At the end, did you sign up with Pique?

Hi, i am looking for a good science tutor for my kids. We are located in Sengkang, so preferably around the region in order to cut down travelling time, Open to home-based tutor too. Both of them are in upper primary, one in P6 and the other in P5 in 2021.

Look forward to receiving your comments/suggestions via PM. Thanks!
