I don’t recommend it too. My daughter started out with them many years ago, and the first teacher (Ms Anna from Russia) was really good with the kids, n they loved her lessons. But after she left, the teachers kept changing, up to 3-4x in a year… my daughter subsequently lost interest, n stopped at G3.

We found one in a nearby CC, n she has continued till now, with the same teacher all these years, n formed strong friendship amongst the girls in her ballet class.

I don’t rlly recommend ballet and music. I enrolled there when I was 7 (2010), I’ve changed teachers multiple times too. I’m not sure how isit now but based on my experienced the lessons are only once a week for an hour and the fees were like $500+ per term (3 month). on top of that, if you want to take the exam there is a fee of $1000+ for an extra 1 hour class per week and exam fees. I found it very expensive and u also can’t rlly do much in 1 hour per week. After that I transferred to Singapore Ballet Academy, even tho there’s only 1 location which is at bras basah but I find that the teaching there is wayy better and I have class twice a week (4 hours) for abt $980 per term (3 month). I also joined their special program which is the youth grp where you will be taught by the school’s principal 1.5/2 hours per week for abt $1000 per year.

this may sound like an ad but I’m just trying to show the comparison I’ve felt ever since I transferred.

Thanks for sharing your experience! This is really helpful. We are currently looking for a ballet school and we want to make sure we're choosing the right one.

Hi, I am new to this forum. I enrolled my daughter in Dancepointe. I noticed they have 4 levels before Grade1: creative preschool, pre primary foundation (first two levels under CSTD) then pre primary, primary (RAD).

My daughter is 4yo/N2 and has started with creative preschool for few months. My concern now, if following all the levels, my daughter will be P2 when starting grade 1 and take grade 1 exam in P3!

My friend’s girl in Dancepointe but another branch, girl is K1 and join RAD pre primary directly, means she will be P1 when starting to learn grade 1 and take exam in P2 which seems to be correct/normal compared to mine.

Is there anyone whose kids in Dancepointe could advice if must follow all those levels before grade 1? Could I skip the pre primary foundation which is CSTD creative level 2 and go directly to RAD pre primary class? Would we get chance to discuss with the teacher?

Although I am not sure if my daughter has any talents to go further in ballet, just want make sure she follow the age standard. Sorry for the long post.

Hi so I live in Singapore and I am 13 this year. My daughter is recently really interested in ballet and will like to participate in competitions soon. However , to join the competition team, she must go through an audition but she feel like she is lacking in technique. Her current ballet school currently only offers private lessons to those in the competition team. I recently laid my eyes on Cheng Ballet Academy hoping to let her attend more classes there. However, they do not allow students to attend ballet classes concurrently in two ballet schools. Should I just sign her up for the Cheng Ballet Academy until she improve before quitting it without informing them that she is attending ballet classes elsewhere or should i just not sign her up there at all but I feel like classes there are quite professional and she really want to learn there! What should I do!

It’s important not just to find a good school but one that fits your child. It’s good to find out more about the methods, the teachers and also the curriculum before enrolling. Cheng Ballet uses their own curriculum and not the RAD or CSTD method!
