This year, is the last batch for MGS primary at Tscore 220.

Next year, whether MGS continue to remain so generous or not anymore, with the equivalent of AL score introduced , yet to be announced (seen), next year (2021)
MOE has yet to announce the new affiliation discount, probably couldn’t reach an agreement with all the affiliated schools to standardize affiliation points to be given

Today marked the end of first half year 2020 gone, fast !

2021 is only another half a year away, after Term 3 start tomorrow, in the twinkle of an eye

In due time, all affliated Secondary schools will know what is their new AL affliation score, going to be

If one removes the GEP cohort within RGPS and just compare apple to apple, the mainstream students (MS) perform more or less the same. In fact, I suspect MGS probably perform better.

The average tscore in MGS Pri and RGPS should be around 23X for both. While an “average student” can continue on with MGS Sec vs one has to go to a 23X neighborhood sec school, herein lies a vast difference. That said, to give up 2A1 for a shot in 2C, needs lots of courage!
I agree with this - that both schools are about the same if you compare mainstream with mainstream, and 220 from MG will get you into the sec section while 220 from RG will get you somewhere else. She also stated her reasons for the preference of MGS over RGPS, and for a person coming from the pri school, to reject the school, ok too strong, to prefer another school, or to even start thinking about going to another school, says quite a bit isnt it? So while affiliation score is not yet announced, there will be one eventually right? And MGS sec section, in my opinion, is worth this risk.

Actually i think there is no need to standardise, currently the affiliation cop is also not standardised, i hope they dont try to standardise the AL. No 2 schools are the same.

Although all affliated Secondary schools are different, coming from different various missionary background (Methodist, Anglican, Catholic, Presbyterian, Buddhist affliated Secondary schools), likely that eventually, all will be standardized

maximum, x number of discount points given.

Tscore method is different, where every affliated Sec school can set their own boundary and have their own say
              But not for AL

              because

AL follow the exact, identical O level \"point by point\" system

In what what, does it follow, identical ?

              O level point-by-point, \" L1R5\" scoring system -
The lower, the better the score

              How about AL ?
              The same!
The lower, the better is your score.

              Well, let's see.
Just another 6 more months, 2021 will soon arrive

                HI all,

thanks for the advice, Im not done reading all, but let me provide more context to my decision churning.

                1. Im more than 2km away from PLMGS, but a drive there has revealed its more convenient than RGPS . Im staying at boon keng.

                2. Another school with high 2C chance is St Margaret, which also has sec affiliation, its temp location at aljunied is ideal for me, as for 2 yrs, 2021 & 2022, she can be based in a nearer location to home. Its orginal mt sophia location is still nearer than RGPS.

                3. RGPS has no affiliation, having had experience with my older son who got in through affiliation to secondary, its important as the kids are generally well prepared and hyped up to get to secondary school together with their friends or folks they know. There is a sort of camaraderie, difficult to explain, i believe PLMGS, primary to sec will have the same vibes.

                4. RGPS I know to be very competitive, i do not have friends in RGPS now, but my doctor who regularly treats national sports teams have feedback some of her patients (sports injry) are from RGPS, whom have all sorts of extracuricular activites which are often difficult/expensive to maintain.

wanted to suggest if this is a good strategy.

                  Strategy 1
                  fall-back-upon" school: St Margaret
                  1st choice: PLMGS

                  Strategy 2
RGPS - close case at 2A2. hope for the best, next 6 yrs will be shun shun

                    Alamak.

Firstly, PLMGS ballots for SC between 1 and 2km while MGS ballots for SC < 1km. Unless you are moving, both schools are off the table for Phase 2C.

That leaves you with only SMPS (or stick with RGPS).

So are you talking about MGS or PLMGS? They are 2 different schools. You are in the MGS thread.
