Hmm, does that mean last year a lot more students went for ntu instead of choosing nus? If so, perhaps that year was an anomaly because past years it has always been the other way around. Or perhaps the lack of moving waitlist was due to ntu offering a lot more slots at the initial round.
Just my two cents worth. The total numbers of places offered each year was only 500 (note: combined intake of the three Medical Schools). So the guesstimate of the respective intake would be from NUS 280 + NTU 158 + DUKE NUS 62 = 500. You can see how tough it is to compete for a place. This was the quota being stipulated by MOH in year 2018. This is how the numbers are being worked out.
Last year 2019 the intake by LKCSoM was overwhelming thus why the wait list was not moving. Many students opted NTU as they were intrigued by LKCSoM during open house.
This year I suppose it will be the same as the pandemic situation had put many talented students to stay put locally instead of going overseas. The places should be pretty tight this year too.
Figuratively speaking the 158 places offered by NTU LKCSoM should not be taken literally. Considering those Returning NSmen who had been reserved a place last year and is to matriculate this year, the places being offered would be lesser than 158. Thus all the three Medical Schools are playing balancing games and the total combined intake to be 500.
The intake figures I have quoted for NUS 280 was taken from their website. DUKE-NUS 62 was from this year reported by ST and NTU 158 was derived at by calculation. The total intake 500 was mentioned by MOH on ST. The order of the intake placing is somewhere there.
Let's hope our wishes will be fulfilled after the waiting. Afterall a Yes or a No will be cleared by month of August where the school term starts.[/quote] -
Last year 2019 open house was full house and the intake was at 150.

LKC intake is 150 this year. My son said 2 of his classmates are opting for scholarships at other courses overseas and have released LCK offers. So there will be slots available. Stay hopeful.

Do you know what courses these 2 classmates are going to take overseas ? Which university ? What the exact value of the scholarship ? PSC ? Who is the scholarship provider ? And why they don't want medicine ? Or don't want LKC ?

It is not convenient to reveal their options for fear of identifications. They only had LKC offers and no offer from YLL. Medical school is not the only option to good fulfilling career. There are many other opportunities and options that these top students have.

Hi! Monsta,
Did anyone hear back from NTU waitlist?
Let us wait in support of our children transformation to the next phase of life. Let's relax a little and think about the good things our children have accomplished thus far. We are all proud parents of our children regardless of the outcome.
What's your children second or alternative choice of chosen course of study? My have son has chosen Biological Sciences & Biz. This course is dealing with biological and biomedical science research and provide an exciting pathways for him in keeping abreast of the latest medical development around the world. Not being in MBBS does not mean no other workaround. If there's a will there is a way.
My son has just served NS as Commando in the medic vocation. He has acquired the knowledge and skills in the aspect of treating and applying first aid to injured soldiers during peace and war time. Unfortunately his medic portfolio was not submitted during the admission application being that the medic vocation was not make known till he completed his Commando BMT. The skill set and knowledge these soldiers had been trained is helpful in the course of MBBS study if given the opportunity else a prospective candidate has been missed out in the selection processes.
Well, I am not begrudging here but sharing some views in life. We can see that Life isn't always fair, but that's irrelevant. All that matters is that you figure out where you want to be, hold your head high, and keep moving forward.
Don't worry, be happy everyone here!
