Pasir Ris is confirmed, guaranteed, chopped ballot for SC < 1km. Hence, if you have decided that you want to join in the ballot for Pasir Ris (or if you want the safe option of Casurina), no need to complicate matters with registration / withdrawal for SMPS.
Pasir Ris Primary is not confirmed a shoo-in for SC < 1km?nitrodrops\" post_id=\"1978705\" time=\"1590890736\" user_id=\"181252:

If that’s your plan, I don’t see why you should even register with SMPS. Going to be an unnecessary extra step and complicates matter.
Casuarina is definitely a shoo-in for SC < 1km.
Missus still prefer SMPS, as it is affliated to St Margaret Secondary. But we stay in Pasir Ris. Going to be tough for DD travelling to SMPS (6yrs) + secondary (4 yrs).
Just trying to review the risks of taking this strategy
DD is SC
Phase2C - Try balloting Pasir Ris Primary (within 1km)
DD will be top priority in Phase2C as \"SC + within 1km\"
*Risk* - All Phase2C applicants are also \"SC + within 1km\"
Extracted from MOE website
Priority admission is given in this order:
Singapore Citizens (SC) living within 1km of the school.
SCs living between 1km and 2km of the school.
SCs living outside 2km of the school.
Permanent Residents (PR) living within 1km of the school.
PRs living between 1km and 2km of the school.
PRs living outside 2km of the school.
Phase2CS (last lifeline) - go for Casurina Primary (within 1km)
*Risk* - No vacancy left after phase2C. There are a few years where no vacancies left after phase2C
Any constructive feedbacks are much appreciated -

Nothing wrong. Just make sure you have at least another alternative option for Phase 2Cs

SMPS current site is at MacPherson which is still manageable from Pasir Ris. But the school will move back to Selegie on the hill top after the completion of the building. As for the affiliation, SMSS is in the west at Farrer Road. A young 12+ year old girl to travel on public transport for such long distance may not be a nice idea (of course, that’s only my view).
So if u thinking of applying and thn withdraw, there’s a risk that the withdrawal may be delayed due to system issues. Also since this year is all online, u may not know the numbers on live updates -

Tough for parents wanting to play the odds this year with likelihood of lack of information before each phase closes. Any truly fully online live system may only be ready for the 2021 registration process.
As for those hoping to hear "live updates" from MOE from all the online forms submitted before 2C, someone is manually checking each form against documents provided… really I hope you don’t count on live updates! -

Any constructive feedbacks are much appreciated
You need to be really ready to ballot at 2C and be ready to accept whatever options are left at 2CS. 2CS be it casuarina or whichever is left, don't even think about distance priority at 2CS if you still want to limit yourself to Pasir Ris. SMPS is the choice u walk away from at 2C because it is highly likely no ballot at 2C. Btw if you are even thinking of SMPS, then there are a lot of girl schools with affililation closer to Pasir Ris, with good odds at 2C or 2CS. -

Hi Hendon,
can you share those girl schools with affililation closer to Pasir Ris? Open to this option.

St Gabriel Primary has never been over-subscribed in Phase 2B during the last ten years. Mostly 50% subscription rate so should be quite safe.

I asked some SC friends they said St Gabriel is a very good and popular primary school.
Why they not over subscribed and welcome PR? Is the school propose the school environment more international culture? Haha!
