I am not sure if this has been asked before.

For kids who didn't take hcl in pri sch, can they take up hcl in sec sch if they get good results for psle overall and OK for Chinese?

        Sec Sch HMT eligibility criteria.

        Thanks for replying my post.
For kids who scored to meet the cut off, but did not take up hcl in psle, would she accepted by a sap ip sch where hcl is compulsory? Understand that at some sap schs, it is not an option to not take up hcl even though child would rather not take it if she has a choice, but she may be interested to choose the sch due to its proximity.

Anyone can confirm that it is compulsory to take hcl at RV? So if a child who meet the psle cop of RV but didn't take hcl, would not be accepted at sec 1 posting?

There is a school write-up here,

The write-up itself confirmed that HCL is compulsory, in this SAP school, River Valley High.

So if a child is not interested in HCL, should consider some other schools instead

Just a quick question: is there a way to purchase passed 10 years PSLE paper and answers? Popular only sell last 3 years paper.

Yes, it is compulsory to take HCL at RV. It's okay if a child didn't take HCL at PSLE. As long as he/she meets the COP, he/she can join the school and take up HCL from Sec 1 onwards. The school does split the class into 2 groups when conducting Chinese lessons, presumably based on their PSLE Chinese results for more tailored instruction.

I do not recommend more than 3 years because there are subtle changes to the way questions are framed a decade ago to now. If you still insist wait until October for the listings to appear in Carousel. I am sure your child does not like it.

The way Popular bookshop sell PSLE booklet, comes in the form of \"every 3 years\".
                    - That means, to form your own Ten-year-series, u will need to buy booklet of every 3 years,
                    ie.

                    - PSLE booklet (2019, 2018, 2017), followed by

                    - PSLE booklet (2016, 2015, 2014), followed by

                    - PSLE booklet (2013, 2012, 2011)

neither EPH nor Shing lee publisher, sell TYS (Ten year series) for PSLE, whereby one single booklet inside contain ALL past 10 years (2019 all the way to 2010) PSLE questions together, for any subject. They only sell TYS for (O-level and A-level) like this, but not for PSLE

Yes, practise more past year PSLE papers is good,

                    because

the more one practise, the more familiar your child get used to the PSLE questions asked, the more confident the student is prepared.

                    1)
For languages like (English and Chinese)
just take note of what are the changes made to SEAB syllabus, that are different or excluded testing, from your current child's PSLE year. can go MOE / SEAB website, check yourself which year which changes (differences) made or introduced, etc

                    2)
for Maths and Science, when practised past year PSLE papers,
                    - skip those topices that are excluded, in your child's PSLE year

otherwise, if the topics are still included, it is good to let child practise, get exposed to as many variety of questions, as possible.

                    for subject Mathematics,
it is important, to get your child be exposed to various variety of questions asked.
Not drill your child over and over again, in the same old type of questions, but over different variety of qn. The child will be very sick and tired, of keep practise & practise the same old type of qn again and again like a robot, and it doesnt really the child too

There is no PSLE 10 years series. Actual PSLE papers are available for the last 3 years, so the most current one is 2017 to 2019. You may be able to get older booklets (eg PSLE 2016 to 2018, PSLE 2015 to 2017, ...) from those with elder siblings.

10 years series is available for O Levels.
