2020 PSLE Discussions and Strategies(for those born in 2008)
-
For my kids, science was the killer in PSLE. Definitely more unconventional and challenging compared to school prelims papers for all the schools they did. Still within syllabus but must really know how to apply and explain. I think the PSLE setters for science are more creative than school teachers.

2eclipse,
Now that Popular book stores are still closed, where can we buy the chinese e-dictionary?
There is some problem with my daughter’s dictionary. We just replaced the battery but it will only work for a week then it went flat again. I tried different battery brands but it is still the same, cannot only last at most for a week.
E-dictionary is not cheap and can only last for a year.
You may want to consider HansVision PX2201 eDictionary. More details here:

#OpenSchoolbag
I am so sorry, I do not know how to create new thread so I have to post here.
This is my first time ordering from #OpenSchoolbag and most likely will be last too! Due to popular bookstores are still closed, I have no choice but to order online.
I ordered 2 books but only received 1. There is no customer service line to call. Finally found a whatsApp number on their website but I received an automated reply saying they will NOT respond to whatsApp and customers to send emails only. However, there is still no reply from customer service after writing to them and sending reminders. This is really terrible as P6 term 3 test is starting next week. COVID-19 is not an excuse to allow one to provide poor service.
Anyone ordered from them before and apart from email, are there other ways for us to reach out to them? -
I ordered from them before. My 2 books were delivered separately, one day after another. I think they either came from different suppliers, or there is no internal rule to consolidate packages that go to the same address.
Have never tried calling/emailing them. -

due to urgency, since P6 WA3 (Weighted Assessment Term 3) test is next week, and since only primary school bookshop open,
can u call up your child's primary school bookshop, ask them to help get you whatever Assessment book u need from HQ, since you already paid, then get your child to collect the book from school bookshop ?
Alternately, ask your child to bring receipt (online purchase) to school bookshop, show them your receipt, inform them that they have not sent you the book, can HQ deliver book to the school bookshop, pass to your child to collect ? -

just simply directed customers to a phone mail box message, saying during CB, ...
Next,
i wrote Popular bookshop an email.
Email bounced back with error, said their email box is full.
Alamak !
How to do business like that, when customers got urgent, critical customer inquiry ?
because
since 7 April start until now or indefinitely, since nobody know when Popular can re-open shop , how to get in contact with them, if email bounced back with error message, said their email box is full ? Furthermore, nobody from their side, bothered to look into this
bad, poor customer service ! -

I just checked Popular's official online flagship store on e-commerce platform Lazada :-
Creative Hanvision PX-2181 E-Dictionary
$49.00
Besta All Pass S1 E-Dictionary
$89.90
Besta All Pass 3 E-Dictionary
$59.90
Please check whether the e-dictionary is approved by SEAB for PSLE before buying.
E-dictionary is not cheap and can only last for a year.
Yes, these are all approved. My child is currently using All Pass 3. All Pass S1 looks new and the screen is bigger too. Will check if she prefers S1 or All Pass 3. Thank you Coast.
I just checked - my DS is using Creative HansVision PX2131. I think we bought it in 2015 or 2016 when he was in primary school. It is still working now (though he seldom uses it in secondary school).
It is not normal for e-dictionary to last for a year only.
However, if your child is P6 this year, it may not be wise to switch to another e-dictionary if she is comfortable with her current one. Make sure you keep the warranty card.
When she goes to Secondary school, can consider switching to a more durable one so that it can last her to O Level (check the SEAB approved period which is reviewed periodically for each model) -

You are right. I should check if the assessment book is available at the school bookshop. Then I will ask OpenSchoolbag for a refund instead of sending me the missing copy. The service from OpenSchoolbag is really a nightmare.

I know right, only last for about 1.5 yr is way too short. We bought in last year Jan/Feb at the beginning of P5. Warranty is only 1 year so it is better to get it replaced rather than to try repairing it.
