JJmom2008, what do you mean by 8hours PCF K1 & K2? Usually, is nursery only a few hours a day or full day, like childcare?

        tamarind:
Bringing this thread back on topic, I would like to share more about my boy's full day PCF kindergarten at Jurong West.

He is in K2 now. Class is from 8am to 5pm. They have breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. After lunch there is a nap for one hour. Each kid need to bring his own sleeping bag. They don't bathe the kids, so this is the main difference compared to full day childcare. The food is not very good, but I think this is common in other childcare centers.

The teacher definitely prepares kids well for P1. There are lots of reading and writing. Spelling every week. They do lots of English and Maths worksheets and bring back a lot of homework. For Maths, they are doing addition and subtraction up to 20 now. They have Chinese lessons in the afternoon. Now only reading Chinese books and doing worksheets in class, no ting xie.

The standard at the full day kindergarten ($300+) is definitely higher than the normal half day PCF kindergarten ($100+ a month) that my boy was attending last year. But not as enriching as the premium PCF kindergarten (half day, $250+ a month) that my older girl attended at 662B, where she had cooking class, creative writing, junior poetry, etc. Thanks to her teacher's encouragement, my girl is able to write long English compositions since K2. Unfortunately, that teacher has already left that kindergarten.

          [quote="Charmaine_chong"]Dear Mac,

I will send both my kids to my first skool child care as my maid will end her contract end of the year. The program is much better than both pcf. This is my own observation.

For chinese classic lesson, you may call 9144 7365 to inquiry further. It is good to expose children to chinese classic at young age. Most importantly, parents have to recite with the child together. Take it easy.

          Hi, Charmaine.

First skool childcare is it expensive? May I know the chinese classic recite, are they those "san zi jing "di zi gui"? Where is the location?

For K1 tuition contact, not a this moment because my girl only pre-nursery this year, thxs, charmaine.

Wow, thanks! Now i remember reading this post by Tamarind. I'm pretty keen on the 2 new PCF Little Wings childcare & kindergarten at Jurong West as they cater right from the toddler class to K2. I've spoken to 2 of the teachers there but i keep forgetting to ask about the hours as i just assumed it's full day. It seems like they are using the don't know what ridby or riggs literacy programme for the kids & parents have good feedback. Fees are different as well thou both are PCF. One charges $342 for the toddler class up to N1 & $288.50 from N2-K2. Another charges $577 for the toddler class & $288.50 from N1-K2. I wonder why the hugh difference in fees. LV @ Biopolis is charging $609 from toddler class to K2.

Would be grateful if any parents can shed some light on the difference between a PCF kindergarten & a PCF Little Wings childcare/kindergarten šŸ™ When did this Little Wings thing come into the picture??!

Hi all, i m new here.

Can anyone share about PCF kindy @ Hougang Blk 23?
Am thinking to send my K1 son there in July when the new term start.
He is currently taking school bus ($130) to Zoo Phonics ($340).
The reason of me changing his kindy is bcos Zoo Phonics has recently change their english teacher to a young Philippines lady.
I met with this teacher and personally i find her not as good as the previous teacher, I seriously see a drop in my son english learning.
She is teaching K1 & K2 n almost all the parents complain about it n the school have actually decided to change the teacher.

Anyway i decided not to wait to see the new teacher 'standard'.
My plan was to enroll my son to PCF ($140) and send him for enrichment class such as I CAN READ & TIAN XIA.
All these come out to be a bit lesser than the amt tat i m paying now, which is my another concern.
I do find the bus fare is quite wasteful where i can use tat amt for a enrichment class, the driver is somehow 'sarcastic' also.

If i m not wrong, the PCF kiddy @ Hougang Blk 23 has close for June holiday.
So i dun have a chance to visit the centre for a 'hands-on-experience'.
But the last time i call did confirm with them there is vacancy for K1 in the new term.

Would appreciate some feedback about the centre n also I CAN READ / TIAN XIA.

              Thank you. šŸ˜„

                Dear MAc,

Yes. Now learning Lau Zhi and Lun Yu.

U may want to call the number to find out more. Is located at Geylang.

I just heard that there is another temple offering free class for reciting chinese classics. However i have no idea about the exact location and quality.

Now i know how this term Little Wings come about. Looks like NTUC had taken over around 20 PCF centres, so for such centres, they are named as PCF Little Wings.

Still awaiting feedback from parents who have children at PCF Jurong Blk 553 or 404 šŸ˜„ Personally, had good vibes from the principle from PCF Blk 553.
