U mean some schools classes with intake 192. They have classes each exceeding 30 kids for p1.
Some schools have really weird odd numbers. More schools than in previous years.

U mean they are allowed to go beyond MOE’s recommended class size of 30? I really pity the teacher, need to manage so many young kids who may not be sufficiently socio-emotionally developed yet.

Or maybe the schools with numbers that are not multiples of 30, actually have fewer than 30 in a class, instead of more than 30.

TL;DR version.
1. MOE does NOT mandate a fixed class size.
2. Schools plan on the basis of 30 for P1 / P2 and 40 for the rest.
Note: Planning numbers do not equate to a MUST / fixed number. Therefore, +- a couple is probably within acceptable limits. -
Personally, I am curious about those schools with enrolment between 120 to 150.
If they are still not meeting the enrolment numbers, they are probably at high risk of merging / closing down. -
Maybe it’s better to merge them, or close down & redeploy the teachers to help out the maxed out classes. Maybe 34 girls in a class is ok, but if you’ve ever seen a P1 class of 30 boys, u know the cliched “eyes on me”, “one silent clap” etc that the teachers are taught in NIE training school does not work.

Can i check usually there are how many classes in Primary One? I saw a school which is nearby my area, with 300 vacancies. With an estimate 30 students in a class, does that means 10 classes in Primary One? Pardon me as i dont remember my times with so many classes.
