      https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/coronavirus-egg-distributors-struggling-to-deal-with-oversupply?xtor=CS3-18&utm_source=STiPhone&utm_medium=share&utm_term=2020-06-21%2015%3A06%3A22

So heart pain to read about one company having to throw away 250,000 imported eggs! Why not have 1-for-1 sale to clear them off?

N&N claims that the company was pushed to produce more eggs during early CB days but as egg demand dropped, the company had no choice but was forced to slaughter 1/6 of their hens, which were then laying 80,000 eggs per day.

Really poor planning on the part of our bureaucrats. Very “chek ark” to kill hens and dump eggs.

Unbelievable to throw away the eggs.
There was a time I complained that no eggs in the supermarket, the price of eggs went up etc.
I don't think the prices of eggs came down despite extra.
Earlier I read that we are importing eggs from Poland?

      https://mothership.sg/2020/06/fresh-eggs-poland-singapore/

Yup, first batch of Poland eggs arrived on 2nd June.

Think I saw at NTUC, lots of Ukraine white shell eggs but nobody touched them. Think also sooner or later need to dump!!

Panic buying is a once in a lifetime thing, not as if we suddenly need to eat 10 eggs a day. Don’t import for the sake of importing. Logically, we should have more diversity for our food sources but then, a lot of things can’t be determined by logic alone.. like eating habits can’t change overnight. Just like how some dislike the taste of Australian or Indonesian pork.

Eggs need to travel so far to reach SG, pricing wise also not cheap. Need sit train probably to Rotterdam, from then sit ship to reach SG? Dump very wasted! Donate lor.

Guess companies made losses liao, by importing the eggs from exotic sources.

At City Sq Value shop, 50pcs surgical masks going for $10.95. Then at City Sq Guardian, I saw kid masks that comes with “adjustable Studs” on both ear loops!

        Did u buy the $10.95 3 ply mask .
dunno the elastic band comfy or not I bought on line before n the bands are tight 😞
        Not comfortable.

Yes, I bought a few boxes. Earlier that day, I saw masks (another brand but no box!) going for $15.95 at another Value shop!

I just took one piece of mask to inspect, the
thickness is there. Ear loops elastic band quite stretchable and comfy enough. Quite standard.

These past few days when I dine out, I noticed the social distancing rules are either badly communicated OR restaurants and Foodcourts have great discretion to exercise their own standards.

For example, in HDL, customer to customer (from nearby tables), are spaced 1m apart. But at Foodcourt, table to table 1m apart. So when two patrons sit back to back, I am very sure there’s no social distancing at all.

How long do we usual take a meal at Foodcourt? I estimate makan 20 mins then another 10 min maybe finish up our coke/kopi/Teh so that’s a total of 30mins. So it’s 30mins in an aircon enclosed space, without masks without proper social distancing

I urge those who eat out, please exercise your own due diligence. Be ”醒目”

Toastbox at TPY stn very small tables & well spaced. Caught up with SIL for an hour. They stacked up the 4-person table. Don’t feel threatened as not that crowded altho all tables were occupied. Nobody choose the long bar-top in spite of full occupancy.

Some are not mindful when it comes to social distancing, we should not take this easily. We need to help each other or else this will go on and on…

Maybe heavy fine is an effective deterrent.
                      🤷 🤷

The last time I used “time-out” was when my kids were in the kindergarten when I took away their Lollipops for 1hr as a punishment.

Yes, there were safe distancing rules but why was there no one from ActiveSG to monitor and enforce these rules?

The advisory could be better worded to show concern on the part of ActiveSG on its sports halls becoming an infection cluster and to implore users of its facilities to adhere to the social distancing rules for their own good. A scolding or even punishing tone in its advisory doesn’t reflect well on ActiveSG and by extension the ruling party, especially when a GE campaign is being waged.
