We had the option of moving to a guaranteed 2C spot few years back and stuck with the balloting option for ACSJ. The regret comes in when you consider the possibility of not getting the ballot and then so close to being not chosen on the actual day. It’s not a good feeling and I agree with zac’s mum that some will (and probably should) choose a safer alternative like SJIJ to avoid the angst and anxiety.

Thanks all! Praying for the best outcome now... hopeful that logic prevails and we see a nice equalisation so everyone can get into a good school in the neighbourhood! πŸ™‚

Some would have decided. but given the places shrink by 15-20, those who have options will move base on the risk and risk profile. Those who only stay near 1 school and no other choices would have to stay put.

Back in 2011, when there were total space of 138 across the 3 schools and towards the last moments, all 3 schools need balloting within 1km.

Last year around 135 spots across the 3 schools were available in 2C. this year at this moment, its down by around 20. We cannot assume the 60 going for 46 last year in ACSJ would do the same if the remaining spots becomes 27.
Don't necessarily agree, considering that everyone who wanted to move would have already done so before the July 1 deadline. A few may have multiple options but most would have only 1(like me only option for acsj <1km) or max two options.

It wasn't exactly conducive to view multiple properties during the circuit breaker period

Perhaps most are locked in, and maybe selected few can have 3 sch option, some have P+J option, Some P+IJ, some J+IJ. Just 5 in each category can have multiple permutations.

All would have or ought to be at the place of residence by 1 July. But if I am trying out, I would have maximized my choice when selecting the place of residence and I would have moved in 3 years before year of registration (keeping up the spirit of Kaisu-ism) πŸ˜‚

ACSJ way more risky this year than ACSP
Upto about 3PM on the last day, the numbers were more to ASCP and ACSJ had better chance
then lots thought better chance in ACSJ and swung there, causing a huge uptick in numbers making ACSJ odds worse.

                    It was quite ironic

same will happen in 2C too...

What was the source of info? Called school personally? Or relied on 2nd, 3rd hand info (possibly fake) posted on WhatsApp group?

Based on what MOE published after 2B closed, these were the stats with no distances known, so quite sure that isn't right for 1km. Can't be that there are more 1km applicants than the TOTAL.
