Getting a SIM card for USA while in Singapore

Asking for a friend - her daughter is travelling to the US for college, and needs to have mobile data on arrival (airports will have free wifi, but she still prefers to have her own, just in case). Is it possible to buy a SIM card here for use in the US? I know my daughter did that for the UK before she went. Can someone recommend?

This is fairly urgent as she leaves in about 2-3 weeks' time. Thanks!

She can use airsim. It is a prepaid sim card that works for every country. Top up for the country you want. Google for it.

What phone is she using? During our most recent to the US in year end 2019, between us, we had Nokia candy bar and iPhones and all the phones worked.

But if she absolutely needs to buy a new phone, surely an iPhone will work? Or she can buy it at the US airport, for sure it is going to work.

All 4G phones should be able to connect.

Note that they have different providers across the country.
So in smaller areas/ towns, if the provider is not there then that particular sim card may not work or have good coverage.
But this should be quite a minimal issue.

Thanks for all the replies. My original info was based on what someone else told her. We asked for the make and model (Samsung J4+), and she should be able to use it. In any case, she will be using travel data purchased in Singapore for the first few days until she buys a new phone and SIM card there.
