: I took a rough look at the vacancies available and looking at the 2019 applicants, about 11 schools seem to be balloting for 2B within 1km, ACSJ, St Hilda, St Nicks, CHS, Tao Nan, ACSP, ATS, NYP, Rosyth, Pei Chun & Nan Hua.
The usual suspects.
As applications have moved online this year, will parents still apply to these schools or move over to the other schools to secure places? Yet to be seen.[/quote]Keep telling ourselves it's more babies being born... and more specifically, more babies being born to alumni of these schools
With or without more babies, without prior association, it will get increasingly difficult to get into these schools. Application being shift online may have exacerbated the situation, but it's a situation that was always in the making.
People are getting more aware of how the game is being played and until MOE can convince people otherwise (\"every school, a good school\"
), the situation won't get any better.

Hi all, I am enrolling my son for phase 2 C. We are within 1km to St Andrew’s junior and 1- 2km to Hong Wen. Knowing that St Andrew’s has affiliated secondary school and we Have better chances but we have some concerns about boy school. I am wondering if it is worth taking the risk to go for Hong Wen 2 C then try Cedar Primary as 2 C supplementary as backup. Thank you for your opinion.

Hong Wen 1-2km zero chance. Go SAJS , it’s a good school. Many parents will want to be in your <1km SAJS, don’t waste it.

either get your school of choice, or settle for a distant second choice in 2CS (there is a reason these schools have vacancies in 2CS)
the other option is to choose a middle ground option if you have one in 2C, not as appealing as that popular school, but not as bad as that 2CS choice
as Clint Eastwood would say in dirty harry; \"you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?\" :salute: -

You probably won't make it to the starting line for Hong Wen. Highly likely to ballot within 1km, and if not, limited places for 1-2km.

Anyway, what i think will happen for these schools in 2B.
Both ACS schools. with lesser these year, (and also online with no way of knowing the numbers) not too sure if parents will move to Fairfield Methodist or Geylang Methodist to secure place to fight it out in the <1km category.
In 2C, maybe some will move to SJI Jr, causing balloting in 1km, squeezing out the 1-2km where traditionally has been balloting.
For SJI jr, Maris Stella, i suppose yet to be seen. in 2B maybe parents will still try it for ballot but wont know the numbers difficult to predict. Some may move to other Catholic schools, St Gab’s, Montfort Jr and St Stephen’s, leaving lesser in 2C. -

hahahaha... well said!... if u can live with your 2C school then go ahead. some parents cant. would rather avoid balloting. -

ACSJ, ACSP, CHS, St Hilda, St Nicks - church members have other options (for their respective denomination), whether they are willing to exercise it, we shall see.
ATS, TNS - unfortunately, SHHK 'fix' their application. Hence, they can't switch to another SHHK schools even though the other schools may have more vacancies.
NYP, Rosyth, Pei Chun, Nan Hua - PV (if any) are stuck. GRL may be able to switch but whether they are willing to exercise it, we shall see.
Frankly, only the missionary schools have options. The majority of Phase 2B applicants to the rest of the schools don't have many options to play. -
