Since this is a question relevant to the College section, your earlier post was moved to Tertiary Education - A Levels, Diplomas, Degrees section. Please check for replies there.

Since this answer is also related & relevant to the College section, Not relevant under Secondary school section,

should also shift out this reply, to the

            \"TERTIARY A-level / Diploma / Degree\" section.

Maybe qms (monitor), can help to shift this out, as well ? Thanks

My son is in secondary school section, I would be interested to know how well the school prepares them for A-levels. In fact, this is a consideration before one even opts for the school after PSLE. Anyway, feel free to shift it anywhere relevant. I’m just sharing.

                    Hi 12mum,

Thanks for your reply! One of the parents told me the school result will be considered too. So I am confused.

Hwa Chong Y3 boys (students) do not need to take O-level (Standard Chinese, bu hua)

                      because

                      ALL IP Higher-Chinese students by-pass taking O-level ( Standard Chinese), in Y3
They need to sit for O-level Higher Chinese (HCL, gao-hua), in Year 4 only, if they are gao-hua students

                      =======================================

                      questions are

                      1)
                      if a Y4 Hwa Chong student scored grade \"B4 / C5 / C6\" in his O-level Higher Chinese gao-hua,
does he still need to take JC1 (Chinese) in Year 5, or no need ?

                      A1, A2, B3 : exempted

                      but, how about B4 / C5 / C6 (gao-hua) ?

                      2)
if a Y4 student scored C6 grade in O-level-gao-hua, and prefer (insist) to take JC1 (Chinese), which require at least minimum 100 hours of attendance in JC1 (Chinese) lessons, this amount of time required will definitely eat into rest of his other H2 A-level subjects to study (revision),
will Hwa Chong Junior College section allow, in Year 5 ?

                        Hi,

My son is in HCI High School section now.

There are some HCL kids who take the O level Chinese paper in Sec 3 year end.

Some opt to do it; others are recommended to do it. It doesn’t matter whether you take it or not…

All students reading HCL will take O level HCL at the end of Sec 4.
