Hi all


This is my 1st post, I am very new here although I had started finding out things from KiasuParents a year ago.

I took advised from KiasuParents and did PV at Radin Mas in 2009, however, nearing the dates of registration, I am having alot of trouble deciding whether between this 2 choice:
- select RiverValley Primary Sch >2Km from my home
- select Radin Mas Primary Sch which I did my PV

OMG, which is a better, safest choice? I also read that Radin Mas is cutting down on 2011 intake…

Understand from some parents that we had 2 balloting chances for 2010 primary one registration(2004 babies). Does that means 2 chances for the same school I choose for my girl or I can choose over 2 school and wait for results? Any advice fm the experts? Thank you sooooo much for your time:-)

Calling titank! Our fellow forummer, titank, was in the same dilemma as you one year ago. He eventually chose Radin Mas due to the convenience. I leave it to titank to explain more.

As for which school to choose, it really depends on your criteria.

I don't think RMPS will cut down its intake this year. Very likely that the intake will be the same as last year, based on what the principal said early this year. However, please don't hold me responsible if it turns out otherwise. Just a guess on my part.

The 2 balloting slips will only happen after registration for that particular phase ends. Hence, since you can only register with one school at any phase, it means that the 2 chances are for one school.

I will also be registering my girl in RMPS this year. :lol:

First a :welcome:

Why are you suddenly considering River Valley after having PVed for RMPS?

From past balloting result, RMPS does not require balloting in phase 2B, so your girl is pretty certain to be accepted during phase 2B registration.
River Valley on the other hand, requires balloting for those residing 1 - 2km from school last year, so you might not even have a chance to ballot since you live > 2km from school.

Did you perform PV for both River Valley & Radin Mas Primary? If yes just select either one of them & register.

Both RMPS & RVPS have pros & cons. During last year registration, I was almost going to register RVPS where around 2pm++.(Was walking to RVPS) The RVPS Admin also call me & ask whether I'm coming to register. RMPS on the other hand, no call at all. Ponder almost 1 hour do another analysis then at the last 30 min then dash to register at RMPS.

Thanks for your reply, I did not PVed RVPS as when I went over, I dont feel good about the environment, the staff, the students abit uptight… Its kinda of high and mighty feeling over there. Wherelse RMPS present warmth, friendly, the students seemed more relax… So even I had the time, I decided to PVed only RMPS.

I hav doubts because I am afraid I might be ballot out of RMPS despite I am a PV there. I dont know if I required to get any letter of proof that I did PV at RMPS, but I dint get any letter. I did my PV and now just waiting. RMPS is more than 2km away from my home.

As for why I consider RVPS a safer choice is because my neighbour got her both daughters in without any effort as its less than 2km from my home. But that was few years ago.

So how do you find RMPS?

I am afraid I will be ballot out thats y I consider RVPS a safer choice. Shame on me, I dont really know how to look at those charts and balloting results. Thanks so much. Now I am more assured that my girl will most probably be accepted in RMPS.

Actually, BigDevil was referring to two different phases.

RMPS didn't require balloting last year in P2B, whereas RVPS required balloting for P2C last year. If you were to compare apples with apples, i.e. in the same phase, RMPS required balloting for those staying less than 1 km in P2C.
